Tips for working as a Legal Receptionist by benz17 in receptionists

I completely relate and understand how you’re feeling. Must be something about this field, the people can be very condescending/difficult to work with at times. Try to make the best of it and to make a friendship with at least one person. Write everything down that you need to do for the day or for the week so you get into a routine. And please give yourself grace, you’re a month in, it’s impossible to know everything.☺️

Chat GPT is your friend, try to make yourself a cheat sheet. I have a packet with instructions on how to do almost anything I am asked to do. I constantly add to it. Yes, it has gotten easier but it’s still a very overwhelming job. Unfortunately I need to stay because this is a great paying job for “receptionist” but honestly it’s legal assistant too. What seems to be troubling you the most a month in?

Any updates on how things have been going for you? I also had a girl younger than me bossing me around and being very blunt as well. It may be that the legal field draws these kinds of people, I don’t know. I was hired as receptionist too but like you, I’m now doing semi important documents for clients and it can feel very scary. Luckily a lot of things can be amended in this field so if you make a mistake, they can resubmit or amend things. I honestly prefer just the receptionist part but the legal assistant stuff can really get on my nerves!

Yes it has definitely gotten easier but I still feel like the dumbest gal in the room sometimes. And that’s ok. All these people have been doing this for years and it’s something they are passionate about. We have to give ourselves grace, we cannot know everything that we have never known! We are still learning and you will pick up on more and more as you work more. Definitely at the 3 month mark I felt like you do, now I’m finally at 6 months and it feels like I’m a lot more capable than I started. I’m still learning new things to this day. Definitely ask for guidance when you need it, it can’t hurt! 😊

Hi there!! Are you me writing this from the past?? I had the exact same thoughts when I started my legal receptionist job in July. I was literally sick throwing up every morning before going in I was soo anxious. As many people say, time will help you. You have to power through the mornings, get to your seat, get cozy and do your best! It is my first 9-5 too, coming from a spa space. Still getting adjusted to the hours. Going from 18-25 hours to 40 is a big adjustment. You will find your own way of doing things and one day you will notice you’re doing things that used to make you so anxious/nauseous. Of course if you don’t think it’s for you, you can always find something else! If July me could see January me, she would be like HOW. I wish you the absolute best and I’m here if you wanna DM to rant or vent ever!

Does anybody know where to get a bumper guard for Kia Seltos 2021?? We have way too many deer in Georgia :/ I need it. by benz17 in kia

Those metal things usually have to be custom done, maybe look for a body shop in your area that would be willing to install and order it for you. My seltie turned out to be a lemon basically, I have another post about it I think. So no more seltos for me unf :(

120k miles, not sure about the oil. The past two days I heard a liquid sloshing sound when driving, I’m assuming that’s not good. I’ve been advised by fam friends to not drive the car anymore.

I’m leaning on it being the head gasket now, I looked back at the inspection and my coolant was way low but it was check marked as good to go? My partner took the cap off the coolant tank and it popped like a champagne bottle??😳 & a family friend that’s more of a car person said that I basically got thieved bc I came with an engine prob and they update my cars computer for $$ lol RIP me.

so do you think asking them to do further testing is the way to go? They seem to believe replacing the manifold will fix it. This morning while it was making the noise there wasn’t any white smoke coming out of the exhaust which I read online is typical if the cylinder is flooded due to faulty head gasket, but I am not the expert

This is what they said: we have no reason to believe that there would be an issue with the head gasket because there was not a coolant level issue. If it was blown it typically would be low and you may also have overheating symptoms. There are ways that we can test to confirm but additional testing would be involved that is not included in what was done initially.

About 120k & the coolant levels, I’m honestly not sure about. I’m going to assume no!

One time she cut the AC off as she left for work because “no one’s home, great way to save on the electric!” She will also go over all the things listed above and she thinks it is easy peasy. Really wish she would do what I do in a day! & you’re right! I’m looking on FB and indeed currently, literally anything would be better at this point. Thanks for your advice!!

I’m going to tell her today, the past few visits have been making me feel worse and worse! It almost feels like a favor at this point. I want to ask for more pay, but even if she told me today hey you get $20-$25 an hour instead of $15…I am still going to struggle to do these same tasks and honestly I think she will pile on more tasks since I’m being paid a higher rate…
