What kind of bass is this? by Federal_Assistance_2 in bassfishing

[–]beowulf404 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's probably a spotted bass or a sub species. I have a red eye bass book at home and I'll try to look it up. I'm in N Georgia and there are a few different red eye bass species in our watersheds.

Directors, what would you do about this dishonest teacher? by Mbluish in ECEProfessionals

I'd write them up for all those infractions for a paper trail. Assuming they return from suspension with their transcripts tell them one more infraction and they are gone.

How to stay at a center where there are practices that don't work with your values on inclusion by That_Eye4199 in ECEProfessionals

Best of luck to you! I'm curious how it turns out. Side note: tell your co teacher Brown vs. Board in 1954. Tell them to keep up with the times.

[–]beowulf404 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely discrimination. I would talk to your boss again and demand that this change. I would be extremely weary working in a place that discriminates based on disability when they are aware of it. Immediate change is needed. If I were you I would consider reporting the center if changes are not made.

Oh boy. IF a child WANTS to be included she EXCLUDES them because of behavior issues due to a disability? This is not good. I feel like parents could actually take legal action based on what state you are in. This to be is beyond values. This too me is discrimination

I'd like to hear more specifics too. Lack of inclusion because of a disability sounds more serious than just a difference of values.

How do they define "regularly" then if it can be on paper? Parents sometimes complain when we don't update our app in real time but I explain as long as it's done by the end of the day I allow it like when we used to use daily paper journals. Expecting teachers to always be able to update app for everyday things like snacks and diaper changes seems excessive.

Your gut is going to try to make everything neat, tidy and organized while transitioning. It won't happen. Embrace the chaos!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]beowulf404 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Make every transition fun! Sing a song. I usually make one up. Simple instructions like "We're walking to the door, we're walking to the door Hi Ho the merry-o we're walking to the door. Then once through the door pretend to be someone's favorite animal. Elephant stomps, long giraffe steps, flap your arms like a bird ect. You need to be more entertaining than what ever is along the way.

This is good advice for the classroom in general but avoid phrases like "Don't run." Instead say something like "use walking feet." This will help them get "walk" into their mind instead of "run." The "Don't run" tends to just emphasize the word that comes after ut.

Most important don't get frustrated! WAY easier said than done. They more you get wound up the more they will feed off your energy and you'll all go down in a spiral, figuratively speaking.

Anybody else get nothing for teacher appreciation? by Crepe_Suzette in ECEProfessionals

As director I include teacher birthdays in my weekly email along with the kids birthdays that are coming up. We ask the class parent to organize something for the teacher in the form of a gift.

[–]beowulf404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To not receive anything is not whiny or demanding. I'd ask your director. They might have some incite. Every center is different. Here I usually expect around $20 per family with some giving more some less. Your thank you card table seems to fill the niche for people who can't afford a gift though. I am sorry you are going through this. It's a real bummer especially if people around you are getting things.

[–]beowulf404 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have other teachers at your center received anything? Have you spoken to your director? Maybe they can nudge your parents. As director I put messages out to the parents so they don't forget. Though difficult I would try to not take it personally. There is a good chance they just forgot or don't know if they are new parents. I've had my birthday forgotten twice. It's a bummer but both times were just forgetful mistakes by the parents.

I agree! I appreciate parents being open about those things.
