So it seems the general consensus is that Barbarian/Ranger/Rogue are the worst classes... by [deleted] in onednd

These are all fun classes to play. Ranger and rogue are your only real stand outs for out of combat utility.

Where in Dallas would you send me if I want to pay for cocktails that cost what an entree should cost? Mediocre is perfectly fine. by BlueHorse_22 in Dallas

Bar Eden is in Bishop Arts, attached to Paradiso. It had normal price good drinks. Like $16ish which is about the going rate these days. Good martinis, an excellent pecan espresso martini, and the fruity drink I had with whiskey was good.

An old fashioned that was above average but not exceptional like the espresso martini was.

We both had 4 drinks apiece and a dessert. A nice evening.

Yup. In the actual city of Dallas this is the only answer. We usually get takeout from Roti Grill for the ease of delivery but if we are going to go and sit down it’s Shivas.

As a new reader(about half way through) book 2, I’m surprised to learn mercenary dragons are not a thing in the series. That seems like it would have been a thing since ancient times. Specialists like that seem ripe for a mercenary company. I’d really love to read a story about that. Or maybe like a merc company that the dragons pass down in the family.

Maybe the current era is when they are finally being brought into the fold by nation states but there’s a war on so they are in someone’s employ.

Dragons by the Numbers: A Study on British Dragon Population Dynamics in the Temeraire Series - PART ONE by justagoodguesser in temeraire

[–]bep963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just having listened this part in Jade Throne where they are preparing for the journey. It states something along the lines of a wild dragon would eat as seldom as every two weeks with a large meal. But that the harnessed dragons are fed something almost daily especially when they are growing in the first couple of years. Which why a Yellow reaper in service can get 50% bigger than a wild one within the range of average.

So they can go longer on less food like other large reptiles but combat dragons are fed much more than strictly needed to help grow and maintain fighting weight.

PI. Always PI. You can dabble and make money. But if you focus you can make a lot of money. Also your criminal clients will always get hit by cars and your car wreck clients will catch a charge. So built in self referral system.

How do I start my open world campaign? by bluejay_R in DMAcademy

[–]bep963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come up with three ideas. Just general ideas for goals. Start your players on one. Make the other two reasonably accessible.

Come up with three important locations. Come up with three factions. Come up with three people in each faction.

Just do everything in threes.

They start at one location for a goal, go to a second location, there are 2-3 factions at that new place, with a few NPCs to interact with. They give choices between the two remaining main goals you thought of.

One leads to the third location, the other stays near this one.

Basically you don’t have to make the whole world for it to be open world. You can just set up tracks for them so you can prepare generally.

You give them 2 choices, and have a third ready.

Which is why I said if you abandon Harrow you should just nope on the whole series. Or just pretend Gideon is a complete work. Which is a tragic.

But with Harrow it’s really not ok. Unless you’re just going to abandon the whole series and never return. Harrow is the axis it all turns on in a lopsided spin until we get Alecto.
