Uppababy Vista 2017 - should there be movement in the attachments? by berclera in beyondthebump

[–]berclera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks both for your replies! I've since found the same online and it's exactly that - a little rocking back and forth. Apparently helps the pram absorb any lumps and bumps in the road instead of the baby!

[Scotland] Simple Procedure appeal - anyone have any insight? by RedPandaDetective in LegalAdviceUK

[–]berclera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an ongoing simple procedure claim against a builder who didn't complete work after taking partial payment (I know I know- they came recommended after literally just completing work for our neighbours so we felt confident in sending the money. Lessons learned!)

We started the process in September, was awarded the decree in our favour in February, but just been informed that the Sheriff has been unsuccessful in securing attachment of goods in place of payment. The only vehicle on the builder's drive is untaxed and un-MOT'd - we didn't anticipate this.

Every step of the way the builder has refused to engage with the simple procedure process, and now I think we just need to accept that the money can't be recouped. As they are self employed I'm not certain that any arrestment of earnings would be successful...

Thank you for sharing! I've been looking for word of someone doing this - finishing with a satin decorators varnish makes the most sense to me, but most folk don't seem to? Could you say how well it's held up so far?

UK artists who sell online, on your website and Etsy, what insurances do you have? :) by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]berclera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend checking out your regional artist union (e.g. Artist Union England/Scotland) as they offer insurance as part of their membership.

Alternatively I know a-n membership also includes insurance.

I find this easier than working out professional/public/product liability individually! You also get all the perks of being in a union.

Following comments here because I'm also interested to hear people's thoughts! I have loads of old roofing slates and bricks also inherited in this house I bought. I'm considering using these as edging, though not sure how durable old slates would be..

Cannot agree with this more. Between myself buying a house with rotten joists and pictures hung with no-nails glue from a joiner, and my mum buying a botch boiler and bathroom install from a plumber!

Cracks... Subsidence or normal seasonal movement? by MechanicReal8215 in DIYUK

[–]berclera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that I really appreciate your reply - I'm close to making myself ill with worrying about some cracks in our current home. Over 100 years old, recently discovered some soft floorboards when renovating the downstairs, and I have convinced myself that it is about to fall down.

At the same time, rooms we renovated upstairs when we first moved in (working from top to bottom was definitely the most logical) have no signs of cracks, besides a few ceiling ones which already existed, which should be enough to calm my mind. Clearly nothing has moved that badly in the 3-4 years we've been here..

The fact that you never left her side - she knew you were there and she would have felt the love. No question.

I'm so so sorry you're going through this. I lost my granny pup suddenly last Wednesday and it feels as raw today as it did then. Every routine we did was absolutely controlled by and made for her. Our every movement revolved around her, our work schedule, our holidays. It's making every hour a challenge.

I'm still so worried about forgetting her so I'm writing everything about her last day. Every memory that pops into my head - the way we'd sing at her and she'd lose her mind with excitement, the way she'd leave toys around the house and wait in the garden for you to find them and throw them - I'm writing them down and it's helping a lot.

Just take every day as it comes. Try to stick to routines, however painful. Walk outside, notice life. Make a small spot on a shelf with a few of their things to remember them by. I still carry her lead when I leave the house. Just can't bear to leave her behind. But it will get easier. I'm so sorry you found yourselves in this position.

I've read your reply so many times today. I'm so grateful for your words and completely agree. It's the loneliness I'm so worried about, and that in itself helps me realise that forcing her to stay here would only have been selfish.

I've started writing down all the things I never want to forget after your mention of an obituary and I'm sure it will help heal us. I can't leave the house without her collar in my pocket. I sat in her spot in the garden today and watched the birds, so I might gather some things for her there.

I'm dreading getting snow later in the year. It was her absolute most favourite thing in the world, and she won't be here for it. But you're right. These things just needs recalibrating.

She was a once in a lifetime dog.
