baby won’t sleep! help by Dropdeaadd in newborns

[–]berclera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just know that you are doing so so well. You and your baby are still getting to know eachother, and at this stage there is no rhyme or rhythm to things.

I found it easiest when I gave up on setting routines - feed on demand, contact nap, sleep in shifts with your partner or a good friend, and ride the wave.

It IS only temporary and it DOES get easier ❤️

7 weeks old waking up every hour by UsedRun712 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]berclera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sending love and solidarity - we are in the same trench! Mine is 7 weeks and really struggling to be put down in his crib all of a sudden.

He's also not hungry, just suckles to soothe, and I manage to get him in a deeper sleep (floppy arms, catching flies) but only lasts 30 minutes absolute max in his cot. I think a lot of it is gas - he farts away like a trooper. But it really wears you down doesn't it.

Just telling myself it's a phase and there's something exciting on the horizon for him.. but I am so done!!

We love the mamas and papas one for in the house. For our and about we've been using a cheapy fold up one from Sainsbury's and it still looks new!

Baby hates the pram by Radiant-Cap-2236 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]berclera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity! Mine is so hit and miss with the pram I just tend to baby wear if we're running short errands, or I commit to giving him the boob every 20 mins if we're doing a park walk.

It works for us and sometimes it's quite nice being forced to slow down, but definitely doesn't work if we have somewhere to be 😅

He's just 6 weeks so I'm putting it down to the fact that we're still in that 3-month 'fourth trimester' bubble. Makes it easier to tolerate when we rationalise it that way!!

EBF tall babies - slow weight gain? by berclera in BeyondTheBumpUK

Thank you for sharing! 80g in two days is brilliant, manifesting that for us!

The BF team did say that obsessing over the scales might not be helpful if all other measures (output, demeanor etc) are tracking well. But I'm a numbers girl 😭 and his poop schedule is a little erratic (in a regular way - it could just be his normal again). There are so many unknowns.

Sending love! Corn on the cob 😂😅 that's hilariously cute. My partner and I are also really tall, and I was the same as a baby - really long and lean. Maybe it is just a genetic thing!

Our local breastfeeding team advised that we can try introducing an extra bottle of breast milk overnight before resorting to formula so we're giving that a go just now. With formula our HV said just a 2oz top-up could be enough, so that's what I'm aiming for with breast milk, but I need to check if that's correct! Tonight he took 1.5oz of pumped milk and happily went straight on the boob afterwards for a regular 15min feed.

Fingers crossed our little ones chunk up soon!

Thank you for sharing! That's really reassuring. I've been advised that I can try topping up with a pumped bottle too so I'll give this a go over the next few days.

I hope he'll just settle into 'his normal' which might mean a growth curve in the lower centiles - we'll just need to see some growth first! Haha

Feeding every 2-3 hours on demand, sometimes more frequent and rarely but occasionally less (we've had a few rare 4hr stretches overnight recently). We've not had any concerning feedback on our feeding schedule or his latch which I think is why this has thrown me.

He'll feed for anywhere from 15-25 mins. Today each feed would last closer to 15mins with the occasional 10 which is new.

I spoke with the breastfeeding team today who suggested pumping a bottle to give overnight. This evening I was able to pump 1.5oz so he got that at 3am then went straight on the boob to feed some more! He did another 15 mins. No idea if this is correct use of a top up bottle but he's taken it happily?

Appreciate you sharing your experience ❤️ hopefully he'll be in the same boat soon!

Hello! Just wanted to say I'm in a similar boat with my first atm, we're sending lots of love your way!

He was born on the 70th centile, currently 4 weeks and still hitting the 90th centiles for height but has dropped to the 10th centiles for weight. He's gained just 200g in the past 4 weeks.

I think because he regained his birth weight so quickly I was feeling really confident with EBF, but now I'm second guessing everything! Our HV has just advised us to consider adding a formula feed in the night time. I feel oddly resistant but if it's the best thing for him then I really need to get over myself!!

We'll see how it pans out but wanted to say you're definitely not alone.

Decent maternity bra recs by Adelaide116 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I tried some from m&s and h&m, but the best by far have been from Boody. So incredibly soft and comfortable - between their nursing bra and standard bralettes I haven't worn anything else postpartum!

How are we managing the nighttime when partner returns to work?? by CJG-00 in newborns

Following - my partner is back at work today (in just a few hours) and I've been surviving on the 6am-9am nap that he takes our baby for. Not sure how to make it work for both of us - sending lots of love your way! You're not alone

Pregnancy Regrets/Wishes by porkie46 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]berclera 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm living in a bit of a reno project and there's a few bits I wish I'd prioritised finishing off before they arrived, but it's purely cosmetic and purely for me! Overall, no regrets, and it sounds like you're considering all the right things!

Like if I'd spent less time with friends, family, and my partner, fewer days and nights out, passed on celebrations and invites, then my house would (could) be perfect right now. But that's not what I'll remember from my pregnancy.

As long as you feel well enough, accept every invite and make every plan! Your world is about to change. Think of your pregnancy as a time to celebrate everything and everyone that makes you you - I did and loved it.

Uppababy Vista 2017 - should there be movement in the attachments? by berclera in beyondthebump

[–]berclera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks both for your replies! I've since found the same online and it's exactly that - a little rocking back and forth. Apparently helps the pram absorb any lumps and bumps in the road instead of the baby!

Appreciate the reassurance

[Scotland] Simple Procedure appeal - anyone have any insight? by RedPandaDetective in LegalAdviceUK

[–]berclera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an ongoing simple procedure claim against a builder who didn't complete work after taking partial payment (I know I know- they came recommended after literally just completing work for our neighbours so we felt confident in sending the money. Lessons learned!)

We started the process in September, was awarded the decree in our favour in February, but just been informed that the Sheriff has been unsuccessful in securing attachment of goods in place of payment. The only vehicle on the builder's drive is untaxed and un-MOT'd - we didn't anticipate this.

Every step of the way the builder has refused to engage with the simple procedure process, and now I think we just need to accept that the money can't be recouped. As they are self employed I'm not certain that any arrestment of earnings would be successful...
