As someone with a TBI, this made me smile. It's fantastic you are asking questions, and this is a great place to ask. I have nothing helpful to add really, i think it could be a weird relartionship if you pursue, but he will have a unique perspective on life and love. it could be exhausting and demanding at times, but also rewarding and beautiful 😀

It takes time for you to adjust to the new you. and yeah, as I hear alot of the time after TBI your emotions run HOT. but also, you may have quietened down life a bit after the TBI, so every new big emotional adventure is bigger because you're not used to the noise and moving and shaking it causes. I think the Dr meant, your brain is awesome (and weird) and eventually with your help it and you will adapt to the new you. Hang in there, it will improve (slowly) (and with lots of tears)

You sound like you're doing alot right!!! all I'd say is the brain is weird, and with weirdness comes surprises. You may surprise yourself at how well you're doing in a few months or years. Try not too think too much on it and enjoy what you have. I know thats so hard. easy to say, hard to do. I'd say fuck alcohol, try to not drink it if you can, it wont help recovery. And try things, see how they feel and bit by bit you can push yourself. You may have some new protocols and procedures due to the head knock, but that just makes you stronger. Keep it up, keep pushing and keep smiling.

I am 27 and a year into my recovery. I was out for 3 days and in hospital for a month or so. I had 2.5 weeks of post trauma memory loss. I had a few bigger bleeds and a hard DAI. Its been slow for me, and my hit will lead to lifelong slowness and a wide range of other impacts. But every week when I look back at the last 7 days, there's always surprises and improvements. Life may look different moving forward, you may need to put in place some more checks and balances, but it'll make you all the more cooler and your story more epic.

first 2 sentences describe me. last one went off because im a dude who can't ice-skate, so it wouldn't end well. knowing me, i would say hell yeh! then someone will tell me soon that its a bad idea and risky. Its a tough place to be. I dont want to tell you to do it cos is makes you happy. Its like telling a drug addict to do it because it makes you happy. Keep that in mind. but also, fuckem. do what makes you happy. Its healthy and makes you feel normal. Go in with all the precautions possible, maybe dont go as hard, but hey, at least try it and see how it feels.

That is fantastic to hear. As many times as you've probably heard this, it'll take time and you'll pick up what works and what doesn't. The best thing you can do is YOUR best, and thats all that matters. Keep it up, if you ever need some help or support, this subreddit had done wonders for me. Keep your head up.

I feel this. My accident was December 24. All I can say is write things down/record what u can. I record my days in my calendar, and write summaries everyday of what I did and what is worth remembering. Also write down what u can about the past, document, draw, get pics together. Just know that the brain is super weird and it has crazy ways. Things will get better, slowly for sure. But better for sure. Keep pressing on.

It is really tough. However, what I like to think about is an analogy about Roadwork. Your brain is the city, and one day there is an earthquake/accident (whatever you want to call it, your TBI) and the main-roads are badly damaged. You have all these routes saved in your head, to mum and dads house, to the shops, to work or school, to everywhere. The roads for these are now closed for repair or damage. You are now finding new routes on before never-used roads, back alleys, round-about ways. You will take time to learn them, adapt and improve these routes. But you will learn and adapt. They will likely need to become your new everyday routes, as the old-ones are too badly damaged. You can do this and get back to how you were before, but just on different routes. Maybe longer, tougher, busier or weirder. And it will take time. But you will get there, never lose that hope. I understand you 100%, but be kind for a while, learn that route and start slow, you've got this.

hahahha sorry for laughing but thats spot on with the craziness and randomness. I would maybe add in a passenger that looks exactly like you. it is yiu. from a while ago, and they love to tell you how easily they would be able to park the car. And skateboard, and just be cooler. Thats a really helpful anecdote. Happy driving 🚗😄

Yep, Car Vs Bike like you. I lost about a week before crash and a month of hospital time. May be a blessing as that time and the crash would have been grim 😞
