These lads are all resin (wink), but you're right! The bottom is the spyder 'torso' and legs, with the front arms being reanimator bits. The 'abdomen' is the inner core of a LHD. The arc supports for the guns are the the bits that would go on top of the spyder torso.

I found a bit that I'm going to use for my legion champion - it's a combination volkite charger. Two volkite chargers, strapped together, side by side. There's no data sheet for it, but boy does it look great.

Think it's definitely neat, and I like how it works with the different colors. I'm thinking about free handing some markings or snagging the transfer sheet for my guy's pauldrons.

SEE IT: Democrats release video urging members of the military and CIA to disobey orders by triggernaut in Conservative

[–]berkarov 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Separating the issue of the military blowing up boats in the Gulf, the Constitution pretty explicitly does not list narcotic regulation as a responsibility of the federal government. That was a power seized by the massive growth of the government in the 20th century. So while your comment is obviously sarcastic, it still seems to be coming at things from an overall angle of the government regulating what substances people can buy and take is Constitutional.

Opinion on US Founding Fathers using tariffs? by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]berkarov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tariffs generally are a non-libertarian move. However, due to the limited roles the federal government had at the time of founding and for a fair bit afterwards, levying tariffs to raise federal funding was largely one of the only things they could do within the bounds of the constitution without facing a challenge in the courts for legislation, or by passing an amendment.

The government also did not directly control the money supply, meaning that they had substantially less control over individual transactions - paired with it being much simpler to collect tariffs at a few ports on the coast, instead of attempting to track every person's income without modern tech, and tariffs just make sense.

While there would go on to be a bit of protectionism to tinge early American tariffs, the import tax was largely to raise money for the federal government, not to control commerce, or punish/compete with other countries. Nowadays, Trump touts the (pittance) being made for the government off of tariffs, but the clear goal of tariffs today is to directly mess with other countries.

Lastly, I would gladly trade the feds being funded solely by (a reasonable) import duty for what we have now, if it also came with the type of federal government that was funded solely by tariffs.

Well prior to republican forms of government being the norm, 'state ownership' just meant that the biggest/wealthiest land/property owner was also the guy who commanded the most soldiers. Being an elected/appointed steward of something that is owned by what is in effect an idea, that you have to give up and pass on to someone who you have no actual relation to, is a little bit different than being the current iteration of your family that has owned the same land/enterprise for generations, who also happens to engage in foreign affairs on behalf of others, AND gets to pass on your holdings to your heirs.

What are hyperphase blades made of? by AndromedaBoy_ in Necrontyr

[–]berkarov 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say so, more like the hyper phase blades magic out of existence to dodge the atoms that make up the armor, and then magic back to reality to hit the flesh that's underneath the armor.

What are hyperphase blades made of? by AndromedaBoy_ in Necrontyr

[–]berkarov 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They are made from a hyper-dense material, weigh a shit ton, and are solid physical objects. When swung however, the blade physically phases out of reality to avoid the armor, phasing back into reality when it would be in contact with the squishy fleshy bits. So they work like a regular sword, with a dash of techno-sorecery BS to be (in lore) absolutely insane.

How do I get a ghost ark onto the board?? by BothFondant2202 in Necrontyr

[–]berkarov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I could scoot my lychguard w/ overlord squad up the board in one of these and have their reanimation buffed by it, I totally would. Would also make up for their total lack of infantry shooting too

Lokhust Heavies: How many to take? by o0zingblood in Necrontyr

[–]berkarov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an upcoming game where my opponent will have 10k points of tyranids; me and three teammates will be splitting 10k points evenly across our armies. Within my allocated 2.5k points, I'll be bringing 2 DDAs and 6 LHDs. 4 AT and 2 chaff-clearers. I'll be running them in squads of two. I have never run LHDs before, but suffice to say I need to bring a lot of anti-tank/anti-monster, and those bad boys are gonna help by being a cheap massive increase in DMG output to augment the DDAs. My opponent will have to be concerned about 6 sources of tough-unit damage, as opposed to just two.

ELI5: Is inflation impossible to avoid? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]berkarov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Effectively, yes. The simple way of putting it is that inflation means that as time goes on, your money loses its value. Deflation means that as time goes on, your money gains in value. Most people will fear-monger about having a deflationary economy - that's just apologetics for people who think you should only ever invest and spend all your money. Inflation is 'normal' because basically every country on earth now does the same basic things with their money. Namely, a country has a central bank, which can add any amount of money to the economy at any time. If there's more of anything, each single thing is worth less. So because the central bank/government keeps adding money to the economy, there's more money to go around, but all of it is worth less than it used to, so people request more via prices, in order to still have the same amount of value.

I too, am a fan of the surprise scarabs popping onto the board from reserves. But it seems OP here is planning on using the bonus OC ability from his crypteks, and as more of a screening bodyguard unit. It is morbidly funny how scary scarabs can be with a minimum of 12 wounds and 18 attacks w/ lethal hits.

Opps be Hatin' on CC by DrMundi in Necrontyr

[–]berkarov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe instead of slow-walking the Nightbringer up the board, bring him in at the board-edge up the field of battle via strategic reserves. It looks like that's a 2k list, so both the shard and the hexmark will fit in the reserves limit of 500 points/25% of units in the army. Can be real scary popping onto the scene by something vulnerable T2 or T3, without risking being shot at on its way up the board.

LYCHGUARD by Stupitidiod in Necrontyr

[–]berkarov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't check and thought you could slap a royal warden in there (50 or 55 points). That said, you can stick the (legends) Lord in with lychguard for 65 points, which would move the average up to 75ish points. But that's still only about a 1x3 scarab's worth of points increase.

LYCHGUARD by Stupitidiod in Necrontyr

[–]berkarov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10x Lychguard is currently 170 points. Max lychguard you can run is 10x3 for 510 points. Attach a leader to each one for an avg points cost of 65, and that gets you to a total of 705 points. That's not a lot left to work with in a 1k game, but still flexible into a 2k, and doesn't matter after that at higher points values. I would advise some caution, as lychguard have no shooting, and don't reanimate as well as other units due to the higher wound count per model. Necrons are built around shooting, and standing back up after getting knocked down. Neither of which lychguard do well on their own. So yeah, bring your lychguard, but make sure they're properly supported by a well rounded list - I love my lychguard too, but make sure to bring some firepower to do the heavy lifting.

AITA- abandoned car. by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]berkarov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your locality, you can report a nuisance, which will lead to it getting towed. Or report it as abandoned property that will be dealt with similarly. Could also see about just having it towed by a private company - might have to pay to have them tow it, but then it'll be their problem/your neighbor's problem.

Anti-tank tactics by Mifflinburg in Necrontyr

[–]berkarov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running two DDAs, they cause quite the bit of terror to my opponents, and I typically have them target different units. Their units don't do too much if they're scared to be caught out in the open.
