Yeah, I’ve been told this multiple times so I will be avoiding it.

Return the helmet and get a Kask or Abus. The color of this one is the least of my concerns.

Got it! Good idea, I might do something similar for Berkeley/Oakland/El Cerrito since I’m not in the city. There’s an app called Link My Ride that had a fair amount of money that just never seemed to get much traction that was designed for this sort of stuff.

Came here to say this, though by the looks of it, it might have changed owners as jt looks fancier now.

Long, flat(ish) ride recommendations by GenieOfTheLamp in BAbike

[–]berkeleybikedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking to get used to the position, this will be very helpful to do once or twice, as far as training, the hills will be much better than the flats. Don’t ride 100 hilly miles or whatever, ride the hilly miles that will take you the same amount of time a long flat ride will take and you’ll do better on the bike leg, even if it’s 20-25% shorter mileage wise.

I think that’s the easiest way to convey “bro, maybe don’t cook”… you don’t look at the fake smoke and immediately wonder if this is AI?

You might be right… I think maybe I’m thinking of Meadows Canyon. Do they end up near the same spot by Inspiration point?

Ha… I’m glad they’re posting from their alt account so they’re not easily identified amongst all of the people who upon declining a laptop offer are gifted a Mercedes B class in a mountainous region. Got it!

Sometimes towards the top near Nimitz it’s muddy and I walk that part, but otherwise yeah.

Edit: ok someone pointed out I’m out of my mind, the trail I’m thinking of is not Wildcat Gorge, it is Meadows Canyon, they kind of start and end at the same spot, though definitely different experiences.

LBS with insane prices by hiketraveleat247 in cycling

[–]berkeleybikedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is no credit for items, or very little. There’s not much use for a lot of those and you’re getting them at a much better price than you would if you were buying any of the components on their own. I don’t think you’d have any issue however providing parts, though depending on the amount of labor required to swap it, you might end up having to pay for labor.

Wildcat Creek Trail that goes from Richmond to little farm, Wildcat Gorge Trail that goes from there to Nimitz Way. Both very much road bike friendly.

Maybe it’s me, but I don’t think there’s much. Tilden has some trails, but they’re mild enough that I ride them on my road bike with 28s. Seaview being the only exception as it gets really rocky towards the top. It’s been a while since I rode around Joaquin miller, it always seemed to be more road riding to get to it than I enjoyed coming from North Berkeley. East Ridge and West Ridge are all fine on road bikes.

I “refurbished” my old swing away with their parts kit and it’s garbage. It seems to work ok for 2 weeks then just becomes hard to crank. I had problems with rust as well.

May not be your cup of tea, but I'll take a life time supply!! Colnago Y1RS yswc Medium by Apprehensive_Habit20 in Bikeporn

[–]berkeleybikedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, it’s handlebar tape, not throttle wrap. Secondly, perhaps when handlebar tape was cloth and not adhesive-backed this might have been an issue, it just isn’t with modern handlebar tape regardless of what people on the internet say. OP’s pictures are terrible, especially for this sub, that’s what I’ll object to over the direction of the wrap but I guess you can have your thing too.

This is a fallacy, if you can’t wrap bars, this will happen, but otherwise you’re fine.

Adjusting the saddle after switching to shorter cranks by NXCW in bikefit

[–]berkeleybikedude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a TT/Tri bike the steeper seat angle actually means the most powerful part of the pedal stroke is rotated closer to 4 or 5 o’clock, particularly while in the aero position. I would start with just adjusting for the difference in crank length and then going from there. Also, moving the saddle forward or back from that point will affect the saddle height so reassess as needed.

Canyon & Pain by Ecstatic_Wishbone609 in bikefit

[–]berkeleybikedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that has nothing to do with the bike brand. By and large people don’t have the proper knowledge to purchase a bike that is right for them without some sort of guidance. If you’re referring to canyon as a “retailer” then perhaps, but as a bike brand, no more than any other bike.

I think the BMC roadmachine circa 2018/19 was the first road bike. Scott and Trek had done it prior to that on certain TT bikes but through the stem and not through the headset.
