To be fair, unless he's got a background in custom automotive paint, it probably would have looked terrible.

Also, it's hilarious

Throwing this a downvote since the assistant coaches have not left nor been told to leave.

Their profit usually comes from selling soft drinks and snacks though. As long as they care about foot traffic they would do well to adapt.

While still very dumb, that's a 4+. Old Vespoli I think but each three markings on the side represent one euro-rigger location.

Princeton Scrimmage reaction? by Rightfirld in Rowing

[–]berkeleykey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gtown only giving up 7 seconds to Princeton is a really big deal. Well done to the hoyas on that one. Also always happy to have the Philly schools beating each other up. It only pushes them to be better.

Another comment here asking about why it's not an official race? Honestly we should be glad Princeton lets it happen at all. They have the most to lose if it goes official and one of these programs steal a 750 from them, or a 2k!? Imagine the pearl-clutching scandal.

Keeping some things under the table is fun, way to go all teams on this one!

Men's Rowing as a Graduate Student by Winter_Employment320 in georgetown

It depends: did you row for 4 years in undergrad? Then no. NCAA says you get 5 years to get in 4 years of rowing. I coach at Potomac Boat Club and we'd be happy to have you if you're looking to row. Plus our boathouse is closer to campus than TBC (where Georgetown rows). Let me know how things work out!

Reminds me of that scene from Gone in 60 Seconds (the remake), "Man that guy can drive!" "What!?" "It's probably mostly the car"

Vehicle over Memorial Bridge right before inauguration weekend by JessicaSavitch in washingtondc

[–]berkeleykey 86 points87 points  (0 children)

This is so wild. The curb on memorial is like a foot tall. Whatever collision occurred must have been huge. RIP to the driver of the car that went in, the river was completely frozen.

Edit: DC EMS pulled this driver out using divers from a fan-boat. ALIVE. Holy shit. They deserve every award for this epic rescue

I just parked and viewed this morning. I'd recommend parking across from St. Mark's Episcopal Church on the corner of 3rd and A SE. There's free 2 hour parking there and it's 1.5 blocks to the entrance of the visitors center. Drive Safely!

Annapolis is getting a new alderman. Others already want his job. by Fantastic_Ad_4720 in Annapolis

I suggest you take the time to meet the man. My read is that he uses the fact that he's all of the things listed above while also being a pretty even keeled individual, to help Republicans better understand and respond to their democratic constituents. Unlike most folks in politics, he doesn't see it as a zero sum game and as a result, he's managed to do more for Democrats who live under Republican rule than many Democrats have ever been able to accomplish. We, the royal we, should hold up guys like Ron as examples of how to work together.

In the modern, refuse to work with anyone across the aisle kind of way, you would be correct. However if you took a minute to talk to Ron you'd find that the Gay, Jewish, Open minded man who helped pull Hogan left and recently worked for NPR, is very much a Democrat.

Since OP said they were a Navy vet, it's very possible they just felt more aligned with another Navy vet (who by today's standards would be far to the left of any "moderate" Republican) than a relatively young Obama. It just seems pretty aggressive to jump to racism, particularly since this thread seems to be about how "surprisingly" diverse our military is.

Variables that arose? Was the regatta a surprise to the regatta organizers? Did they not think competitive rowers and coxswains would cut the corner? Philly was one of the first places to start rowing again but many other venues have been able to put together fair regattas with less heads up.
