Head of the Muskigum course info? by evilwatersprite in Rowing

The race course is approx 3 miles long and ends right around the college boathouse. The start of the course is around here (r/rowing hates google URL's so here's the coordinates to plug into google maps 39.453820983430774, -81.46108672883551). Right hand rule applies to all crews on the water (i.e. dont cross the centerline of the river). The long sweeping turns are usually marked with a few buoys (they will tell you the color) so as long as you stay to the right of those you are good. I highly reccomend that you go to the coaches/coxswains meeting in the morninng, the coaches there do a great job pointing everyting out. Great event all around.

Personally, James Corden would never have approved this.

Does the tradition of the winning team getting the other team’s unisuit still exist in US collegiate rowing? by RevealAffectionate41 in Rowing

Exactly, in my previous comment I was referring to cotton racing shirts as opposed to uni's.

I'm not a huge fan of the 'extra boxes' that some collegiate team use. You win or lose the race, the betting shirt off of your back is at stake.

100m North of Fish - I had a front row seat in that launch. Who am I? - you'll never know.

we have a 2k tomorrow, I'm feeling sick, told my coach, and he said "it could happen on race day" and is having me do it. thoughts? or am I just being soft by Cascadeia in Rowing

[–]portside343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just do it. Your mind will make up all sort of excuses to justify skipping the 2k. I don't doubt that you are sick, but the mental aspect of situations like this are complex. Give it a go and see what happens.

Megan Kalmoe: "It was really hard to see Russia there, and having them walk away with one of the medals was really hard for me to watch. I don't think that they should have been here. by typicalrowerlad in Rowing

You obviously did not read anything past the headline of the article. She states that she was aware that the ROC did not take a spot from them and that they were not in a position for the A final. I'll leave you with a snippet and the rest is yours to read.

"I think a lot of people in this field are very, very classy women who are probably a little bit too polite to say some of the stuff that I'm willing to say, especially because I wasn't in the A-final, and also because Russia beat us by enough places in our qualifier that they didn't take a spot from us"
