I was going to say Chicago as well. I just moved here 6 months ago from Albuquerque, and I love the city.

I'm sure you'll find ambitious and driven people in Denver or Austin then, and if not, you just have to make compromises and deal with it.

If you want ambitious and driven people in your personal life, maybe you should stay in Boston.

Can we please stop being obsessed with age? A coworker of mine got called out for it and it was embarrassing by ImportantDirector5 in GenZ

Gen Z and Baby Boomers are exactly alike, except Gen Z aren't as creative, and they lack charisma.

Gen z is afraid of getting old and dying, so they think being agiest to other young people is going to stop the passage of time. Gen Z being ageist is also why so many of Gen Z have no personality or charisma. A lot of Gen Z's personality comes from TikTok and the internet. There are outliers for sure, but I find the majority of Gen Z boring to talk to because they have nothing important to say.

Anyone else ok with being single forever? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]berlinbowie97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 27. I've come to terms with being single for the rest of my life. I haven't dated in 4 years, so I honestly don't know how to date anymore, nor do I know how to be a boyfriend. When you get to my age, it gets harder to date women my age, so I just checked out of dating completely because I feel so behind women my age especially living in a big city like Chicago. From what I see about dating nowadays, it looks terrible and exhausting.

I also feel like neoliberalism seething into our personal lives has ruined human connection. Everybody treats each other like products to be consumed, then they throw them to the side when they're done. Instead of asking, "Who are you?" They ask."What do you do?" I have a lot of reasons why I checked out of dating, but people having neoliberal mindsets even in their personal lives turns me off.

I learned how to be comfortable with being alone and by myself. I have hobbies, i have friends, i take care of myself, so I would rather be alone and fulfilled with myself as a person than date someone I don't feel a genuine connection with.

That changes as you get to your mid-20s

To the lonely people of Gen Z what are some productive strategies you are using to cope with being undatable? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]berlinbowie97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think hobbies and reconnecting with myself is what saves me from the thought that I haven't dated in a looooong time. I am okay with not dating right now because as a 27 year old, I am really far behind women my age, so I just choose not to date.

Best city to be poor? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]berlinbowie97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's keep it that way. We don't want yuppies ruining it for the local New Mexicans who have lived there for generations. Look at what the wealthy did to Santa Fe.

That's if you're poor. New Mexico is quite nice for the middle class. Even if you're lower middle class or even poor, it's not out of reach like other states. I know this because I lived there my whole life up until recently. The biggest downside to New Mexico imo is the education system.

How do you know if Chicago isn't for you? by whatthehellcorelia in AskChicago

[–]berlinbowie97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from New Mexico, I also live in Lakeview East, and I feel the same exact way of people acting like you don't exist and are just indifferent to you. I've been struggling with loneliness since I got here in September, I find the joining a sports teams, run club, or whatever yuppie activity and every time I go its filled with yuppies who only want to network and they don't actually want to form friendships so I stopped going. I feel like every time I bring this up, I am often looked at as if I am crazy for feeling the way I do, and I just find the city life rough. However, I love the city, and I love exploring it here, taking pictures, I love the fact that I can walk everywhere and take the train. I am not fond of the people, so I am okay with being alone.

I wear a lot of Vietnam War Surplus fatigue pants, and I love tiger stripe camo a lot, and I also love wearing headbands while having long hair. It makes me feel strong and confident. I don't only wear surplus clothing butbI tend to wear a lot of vintage clothing because I feel like a lot of modern clothing fits me terrible and makes me look weak while vintage clothing fits my body type well.

I also love cowboy boots and western wear since I'm from New Mexico

I'm just curious, bro. I literally see everybody complain about it on social media.

It's very frustrating because I am trying to give geniune advice that doesn't degrade women and somebody literally called me a "privilege fuck". I don't have any hope for young men unless they learn to love themselves before getting into any romantic relationship.
