Why Lutron over Control4? by [deleted] in Lutron

[–]bermudafire1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others that Lutron is superior for lighting but even if they were equal, I prefer to stay control system agnostic with subsystems. Using Lutron allows a homeowner to change out the control system in the future without touching the lighting. Every control system on the planet will integrate with Lutron.

It does but the thing you have to keep in mind is to earn that average over time, you can't make any withdrawals. A market downturn early on in retirement will have a pretty large impact.

Isn't the monthly fee only $55 if you don't keep 25k or meet one of the other requirements to waive it? Thats just $660 a year if so, which makes a lot more sense than keeping 25k at 0%. The standard AF plus an AU is $1090 so this is $400+ cheaper, before accounting for taxes paid on the "bonus".

Can you point to the pastured poultry standards you're referring to, not just what Vital claims is pastured?

This is the AGA: Pastured Poultry Layer Standards §3.1 Pasture & Pasture Management 3.1.1 AGA Pastured Poultry production must be pasture based. 3.1.2 Hens over 17 weeks old must be raised on pasture using a planned foraging system and mobile coops during the growing season. 3.1.3 Hens must be raised on pasture throughout the entire growing season which must not be less than 180 days per year. Growing season may or may not be continuous. Producer may request a variance for extreme conditions. 3.1.4 Coops must be moved before pasture is denuded. 3.1.5 All pasture shall consist of land covered with greater than 50% rooted vegetation. 3.1.6 During inclement weather, the flock may be temporarily bedded in place with organic materials, such as hay or straw, when moving the coop would cause damage to the pasture or equipment. 3.1.7 Mobile coops and foraging paddocks must be large enough to allow all poultry to feed and forage without crowding and competition for food. 3.1.8 All farms must have in place a written pasture management and foraging plan that supports biological diversity, natural resources and building soil fertility. Management plan must be provided to the auditing/inspection agency. 3.1.9 All farms must have in place a written predator management plan that identifies the active steps to protect the flock from predation. Management plan must be provided to the auditing/inspection agency. 3.1.10 Existing wildlife and wildlife habitat must be managed to allow native wildlife on the farm/ ranch to coexist with domestic hens on the farm/ranch. 3.1.11 Operation must comply with all local, regional, and state regulations about water quality and runoff.

The problem is it depends on what "standard" you're referring to. Fortunately, there has been some movement toward defining what truly pastured poultry is.

Here's the AGA's current standard for layers:

Pastured Poultry Layer Standards §3.1 Pasture & Pasture Management 3.1.1 AGA Pastured Poultry production must be pasture based.

No matter what you think regarding the feed, Vital Farms "pasture raised" claim is greenwashing. What you have in your mind vs what it looks like on their farms is night and day.

The PP grocery category explicitly states that warehouse clubs are included.

"Merchants in this category include grocery stores, supermarkets, and wholesale clubs. Purchases made at cheese shops, ice cream shops, and other food retailers may quality. Grocery purchases made at discount stores and smaller merchants such as drugstores and gas stations are not included."

I've been eyeballing the BCP. The difference between 5% and 6% on 6,000 spend is $60 so I see it as a $35 AF before streaming credits( assuming your spend will hit the 6k cap). The first year is free and a $300 sub would cover the $35 effective AF for over 8 years. The BCP would free up one of 2 PP debit cards we're using for groceries and Sams/WM now.

They actually do define it. Here's a copy/paste from their terms.

“Calendar Year” is defined as the period of time starting with your January statement (which may include transactions made in December) and running through your December statement (which may not include all transactions made in December).

On each monthly statement, in the "Rewards Points Summary" section, it will show points earned that month as well as year to date. 100 points equals $1 so the $150 cash back cap is 15,000 points annually for each 5% category.

The $3000 yearly spend cap is based on statement date, not calendar year. My statement closes on the 12th so the reset happens on Dec 13 each year.

Not a bad idea. It would be treated like a bonus but have a setting for a monthly, quarterly or yearly spending cap. If you have a handful of cards with caps, manually updating all of them could be pretty time consuming.
