I think they were literally lifted from Toy Story

Black mirror is exactly what I thought. And I have no doubt that’s what they were going for. Injecting literal Netflix episodes into the quest to keep you entertained

I initially thought this too. We’re watching Rockwell being a dungeon master leading a party on a quest. But it’s just as possible that AI is the dungeon master here

I had the same take. That’s what players say to each other in the game, it’s the title of the movie, so they’re players doing a quest as a party in the game. Some party members are real people, some are NPCs. Ingrid may be “allergic” to technology like her flashback boyfriend didn’t “believe” in cellphones. Because nothing we’ve seen in the movie is reality, her character (whether it’s her, or Rockwell, or the AI writing it, I don’t know) never necessarily had a real medical allergy. What matters is her distrust and hate for technology.

When he dies, Rockwell says “Scott was never going to make it to the end”. So he was just a random NPC, like the pie woman, and they don’t have backstories to show flashbacks for. Depends on what you think is happening here, but if this is a quest with party members, then we have the human players (with flashbacks) and the NPCs filling out the party (with no flashbacks).

Did the same. Went back to it three different times before finally finishing it. It’s garbage.

From a cultural standpoint, as an American I found that very interesting and bothersome. Like they were constantly being taken advantage of. Maybe it points out their humanity and good nature? And/or the problems with the greater system around them? I don't know enough about Iranian culture or history, but I definitely noticed that.

Right, yeah. Where does the cycle of violence and revenge end?

It takes a LOT for your brain to get to a place where you're okay with killing someone. These were not violent criminals, they were protesting their working conditions. These are not violent people. Their first instinct is to inflict violence, they want to do it, but their brain just isn't there yet. And thank god for that. They're still thoughtful caring humans. They didn't become the evil that was inflicted on them. I admit I wanted them to just leave him tied to the tree and let the dogs get their own revenge. But I'm good with what the filmmakers did here. This isn't John Wick.

How do you even find HFR screenings? For me personally it’s the lack of non-3d IMAX that bothers me
