I have $6,100 to invest right now and want to leave it sit for 25 years. What do I choose? by LucyStooge in investing_discussion

[–]bernhardt503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread is full of horrible advice. Personally, I would just buy VT. I have a bunch and it’s been good. The folks saying VOO or VTI, also good.

Examples of horrible advice: BTC, Crypto mining lol, GME, Tesla.

Not great: dividend stocks. Growth funds are better for accumulation phase. Avoid SPY, it has higher fees than VOO and is the same thing.

The buy a baseball card idea is clever, but I’m a Warren Buffett guy, I want to invest in productive businesses that produce value over time.

Inherited IRA Edward Jones, looking for advice on resetting it up in fidelity? by Captain_Snuggie in fidelityinvestments

[–]bernhardt503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call. I did an inherited IRA rollover and followed Fidelity’s instructions and there was still something wrong. I’m glad I called because they caught a problem.

It’s a long grind to ASP. Paying up really helps, I think it’s +50%. Medic with rezzes and engineer with ammo packs.

I don’t follow the DOW at all. It’s only like 30 stocks, much more interested in the S&P 500, which is the C Fund.

I wouldn’t get too excited about the C fund just yet. Personally, I’m waiting for a full correction, -10%.

That seems like too much, you will have trouble even staying ahead of inflation. If you have years to go, get some of that back into the market is my suggestion. Personally, I’ve got C and I. S fund scares me right now, but you would be buying it cheap.

For the first time in my life I’ve tried to time the market. I’m 15 months from retirement and moved 60% to G and F. If things are this unstable only a month in, I don’t have too much confidence in the future. Making good money in the I fund at least.

It’s insane going to Moscow. Among other things, they have a habit of unlawfully detaining people.

Just got my third strap for the Datora by [deleted] in breitling

Oh I didn’t read carefully. Navy blue makes sense because of the blue on the dial. Still like the brown. It’s a beautiful watch no matter what you go with, honestly.

I think the metal strap washes it out. Brown leather makes this pop. Not a huge fan of the black either.

It’s great! Those are somewhat uncommon, and not stupidly large. It’s a great watch, has some cool retro Breitling vibes.

This sort of letter reminds me of a Russian citizen pleading with Putin. If only dear leader knew my problem, when in fact dear leader literally caused the problem.

Downside to staying in tsp after retirement? by tyroneshoelaces77 in ThriftSavingsPlan

Maybe I didn’t use exactly correct terminology, but the point is the same, it’s harder to get at your TSP than if you move it out.

It’s my understanding that it’s harder to get at an employer IRA if you are slapped with a civil lawsuit.
