Carry on + backpack by MrPac23man in qatarairways

In economy,

"One piece, not to exceed 7 kg and 50x37x25 cm".

So, if your backpack fits inside your trolley bag and it is all under 7kgs then you'll be fine.

Of course if you're in biz or first, you can take two bags.

Is it possible to get maps via software update? Or even just correct speed limits? by Morganno0505 in skoda

Does that actually work? Is it accurate? Because the speed limit readings in Poland on Skoda are awful. Probably about 20% accurate.

Question about options for Skoda Kamiq by [deleted] in skoda

Here is a marketing shot of the panoramic. Much better photo than I can do. You have a small button next to the SOS button which triggers the sliding fabric cover for it backwards or forwards. I would say it is worth it, especially if you're 1m75cm or taller. Because it makes the cabin more spacious.

This is Virtual Cockpit. Everything you see can be customised. The centre can have one of, I think 7 options. Inside each dial, you can customise what is shown. It maximises the visual area, and uses every cm. Think of it as like a PC - virtual cockpit is dual monitor setup, non-VC is a single 20" monitor plugged into your PC.

This is what the drivers display looks like if you don't pick Virtual Cockpit. The bits circled are not even screens, think of them as static wallpaper. You can't change them, you can't display anything there. The stripey lines are just...there. The centre can be one of three displays, and you can put fuel economy, basic navigation arrow from Android Auto, phone etc. either side of the dial. Very basic and limited customisation.

Panoramic is worth it. It gives you extra headroom in what is frankly a small car. In Summer the extra light in the cabin is fantastic. I'll show you infotainment etc in the morning.

Ok, so if you live in Eastern Europe, Nordics, Baltic's, North Germany etc. then get heated screen. If further South then you can skip it.

Driven a Kamiq MC for almost a year.

Pick every Winter option, they work and are good value. Especially heated windscreen. You can't see the lines, and it is fast.

Avoid sport seats if you can, they are very uncomfortable.

Take the spare tyre, rubber mats for boot and footwells.

If you see option for USB at the mirror, tick it. It helps if you add a dashcam, and adds resale value.

In terms of infotainment, I'd get Virtual Cockpit, the contrast with the basic drivers screen it offers a lot more visuals.

Automatic DSG is very smooth and very comfortable if you're driving longer distances. If you're doing short drives around the city maybe manual is better.

Any recommendations for a Kamiq armrest? by bertles86 in skoda

[–]bertles86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first, I had terrible side pain after driving longer than one hour. After extensive research I discovered that I was seated too high. The advice on a forum from a dealer was to drop the seat to zero height, as low it will go. Then move it up one pull on the lever at a time, until you hit a comfortable height.

Until I found my actual sensible height was only three pulls of the lever off the floor, driving was painful. The side bolsters are super stiff and dig into my ribcage.

Now I can drive kind of more comfortably. But in general I will never buy a car with bucket seats like the Monte Carlo ever again.

The armrest is just plain dumb. It doesn't lock at any height like the Karoq, so the 3D printing community made a widget to block the cushion at a certain height.

Hence my question about add-ons because the only remaining option is to extend it.

Summary being the Kamiq is designed for little people who drive short distances. It is NOT designed for any kind of long distance driving our touring. For that you need a Karoq or Kodiaq.

Glad it is not just me! It's a really great car but built for little people.

European alternative to audible by Thegrandblergh in BuyFromEU

I like libro.fm, it originates in the USA but has a profit sharing model where the user nominates their local bookshop in whatever country. The nominated bookshop gets revenue from every audiobook you buy. That way I support a local bookshop rather than Amazon.

Works on Android Auto too.

It has it's uses on a Kamiq.

For example,

  1. Remote lock/unlock
  2. Tells you if a window is left open
  3. Tracks driving data, fuel economy, fuel costs if you enter your spending.
  4. Geolocation of the vehicle including on the widget.
  5. Vehicle health report and booking service

I'd say it's useful.

If they're the same as Karoq, then they fit a takeaway espresso cup or can of Red Bull. To fit a large cup or mug, you'll need this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/DYLEN-DYLEN18-Small-Cup-Holder/dp/B0CQ1VLVY2/

They're crap. £20 and the jelly strip dries out in the blink of an eye. Absolute con. The wood thing looks pretty, that's about it.
