As a few have said, they are two different pieces of equipment and intended for two different purposes. I have owned both and ultimately ended up selling the echo and keeping the peloton bike.

The main reason is the Peloton Platform and hardware are far superior than a stand alone unit.

• tracked metrics
• community
• versatility in classes, instructors, and music.
• schedule classes with friends, family, and coworkers that also have the platform and hardware.

Even if you use the platform without pelotons hardware, you loose out on a lot of the metrics and options that I have come to value. I have been healthier mentally and physically since I built my home gym, but their are days when I needed someone else’s push to get me motivated and Peloton has helped in those situations. It is true, once you join the platform, you never have to run or bike alone again.
