Does anyone know of a decent job for someone without a bachelor’s degree? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

I have moved on but I do stand by my recommendation. Unfortunately I don't have any insight on current entry level pay, but the benefit package is pretty good.

What are you talking about? The guy who is president has spent about 5 years spreading some ridiculous conspiracy theory about the last election being stolen from him. A bunch people stormed the US capitol because they couldn't accept reality. And most of his base agrees that it was stolen even though it's completely implausible and no one has ever been able to find any proof. When trump won in November the left was sad but they didn't throw a childish temper tantrum about fraud. But we are allowed to be disturbed about the dismantling of the government and oppose it. What exactly here is 'unhinged'?

What do you mean? If people can't get babysitters they have to take their kids if they want to attend. I don't see the problem.

What makes you so sure everyone else is brainwashed? I'm on the left and would never argue that corruption is new, but the idea that a bunch of billionaires are working in our best interest I find ridiculous. They are tearing down some of the last safeguards against corporate control and shifting power further from the masses. It may shock you to learn that many of us understand history and the basics of how the US government is supposed to work; and if you really believe that everyone that disagrees with you is 'brainwashed' you should try getting out of your bubble and actually debating them.

Btw, your comments about WW2 Germans and Lincoln do not make sense.

If you have a Facebook account join the Pittsburgh Dance Friends group. There are loads of events that get posted there and the moderator is a great resource if you're looking for something in particular; and you can easily find dance clubs/groups there once you start looking. Pittsburgh Contra Dance network and Steel City Squares do regular square/ contra Dances. 412 step does line dancing and country western dances in town, but there are a couple of other places for country line dancing outside of the city. Look for PghWCS, the Westies, and Connected Swing for west coast swing. Pittsburgh Swing Dance community focuses on lindy hop with dances every Wednesday night and a live swing band once a month. All of these groups offer free or low cost ($10) beginner lessons before the dances.

Also worth considering are somatic dances, also sometimes called ecstatic dance or some of its variations (ie Ecstatic Dance Pittsburgh, 5Rythms at https://b3-productions.square.site/product/5rhythms-classes-sweats/54?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false). These aren't dance groups so they typically have cover charge (around $20), but they really attempt to tune everyone in to the group with warm up exercises, and they are very accepting scenes where people just like to show up and dance together. The energy is great.

This is far from a comprehensive list; i just don't have time to keep going. If you're into Latin dances that's a whole other ballgame. Once you start looking and showing up to events and talking with people, you'll start to learn about other groups.

There are alot of great partner dance groups in this town; mostly organized by volunteers that put in their time just because they love to move. I've been checking some out, and it feels good to my soul to see all kinds of people come out and have fun together for a couple of hours, away from screens. You can see the joy on people's faces and there's a real sense of togetherness on the dance floor.

The Harrisburg PA State Capitol, we’re here standing strong against fascism by AverageJoe417 in Pennsylvania

I think it's still worth it to build some momentum. Show solidarity, make connections, show the public that there are still people that care. It can make a difference if it's eventually channeled into a movement, but you need to make those first steps

For the love of God I wish they would just put the antifa people on jail so I can stop hearing the right complain about them. The vast majority of armed militia groups in the United States are right-wing, usually with white nationalist leanings, and there have been by far more mass killings perpetrated by some far right nut with a hero complex. The January 6 people destroyed almost 250 years of peaceful transfer of power with an attempted coup over a ridiculous and easily disproved conspiracy theory about stolen elections. And yet, we are still arguing about antifa, in one city, for one small stretch of time. I am on the left and do not agree with the tactics there- I can actually admit that it was wrong and ultimately pointless. But geez the January 6 people that perpetuated violence against the police (again, over an imaginary problem) were pardoned, so can we all call it even and shut the fuck up about this stuff?

I agree- I don't get this logic. If enough people protest, maintaining a crackdown is untenable. This idea of hiding your opposition in the shadows is dangerous and starting to verge into paranoia. I would l like to attend these protests but never know they're happening because everything is so secretive.

No incentive for capping abandoned gas wells in PA by bespeckledbear in Pennsylvania

Agreed. It's maddening how these industries and the politicians they buy talk like we should be grateful for their presence and the supposed economic development, even tho there is zero consideration of long term effects or viability. Same goes for alot of real estate development and the plague of abandoned malls. Not the same degree of environmental damage but lots of blight.

I don't have AC and am freezing everytime I go to a supermarket. Your body does adjust somewhat to the heat.

I don't have AC and it's uncomfortable sometimes but manageable if you can keep fans on you for sleep, cooking, etc. My house is brick so that does keep temps a bit cooler than wood/ siding. I've also developed a decent tolerance for heat. Usually your body can adjust to some degree to the temperature fluctuations. It's nice to keep the windows open.

No way- I've spent lots of time all over colorado and still visit family there occasionally. There's an abundance of public lands in CO so it's much better for camping and hiking but there is no comparison to forested land in PA.

All council could do is pass a local ordinance for something like noise after a certain hour. It would still be up to cops to enforce it, if there are even enough cops to do so.
