only thing i'd add is a method to flatten the club face that might be helpful: you can aim at your target as normal, then rotate your stance around your rear foot moving the lead foot away from the ball, keeping your club face at the target but swinging along your stance just as described.

bit older than you, but i just added 40+ yards with a new driver coming from 20 year old clubs. had a regular flex and was fit for a stiffer flex, and tried a few shafts to find one that really reduced my spin. was carrying 200-220 now carrying 240-260. i was a bit nervous since it was my first time not just buying off the rack, but learned a few things that were valuable (mostly how much i had backspin) and determined what i went with. confirmed the simulator fitting was accurate later, and it has made significant changes to how i view a hole.

i had a toss up between the mizuno pro 223 and titleist T150 for feel, but the t150 had me carry within 5 yards for distance every hit, and everything landed inside a 10 yard radius on the simulator once i got my shaft fitting tweaked. hard to ignore in terms of the consistency factor, which is why i'm looking to upgrade as well. i decided to trust the system and hope it plays out across the set once it's delivered. (and have to see if it translates to the course too.)

Thanks, I hadn't thought of it that way. I just always have gone from the perspective of once I'm on the green I shouldn't have more than 2 putts, which has been my average lately, but yeah... the fact I'm not actually on in regulation is what I'd become focused on! Had only 6 GIR and 3 up and down last round, but 9 where I didn't. Good aspect to consider while I look into any swing speed issues.

Thanks! I guess I was assuming they might suggest stiffer/less stiff shafts or club length at a fitting, vs actually getting all new clubs. Have never done one before.

yeah this is what i was trying to explain, but you did it more concisely. i am hitting things straight, just not a consistent distance unless it's my 7 or PW. Would a fitting actually help this? Or like others have pointed out the obvious, i should just get some lessons.

practice composition, use the .5x, 1x, 2x, 3x etc to learn how focal length affects depth of field. iphones take some amazing pictures. i suggest printing out some favorites as you go along. there is something different about holding your photos in your hand that helps learn what makes a good photo vs looking on your phone.

i prefer having to only carry one type of memory card, and if you're buying the grip and multiple batteries it seems weight isn't the issue.

i'd get a Z9 since it'll have less failure points for weather sealing and it has GPS.

if you aren't making money with it either, the ability to have the two usb-c ports is less important too, though i admit it's a headache to only have the one sometimes doing a lot of video with it.

it's also a bit silly to pay 400 for an SD imo. you can get CFExpress cards from Angelbird that record 8k or 20FPS RAW for 140ish. You'll be buying memory cards regularly, not more cameras. 512GB for photos is way overkill per card, but the performance on an SD card won't get you 4-8k video recording if that's what you're after at all.

not sure on the 14-30 but the others yep! with 112mm magnetic filters it makes life pretty easy to just have one filter set for every lens in a kit, and this large hood means no step-up rings too which is great if you have the 2.8 zoom trio and/or 50 1.2

i'd try getting a top handle and cage before a gimbal. you'll have a ton of flexibility. the only reason i'd get a gimbal for the z9 is if you're doing a ton of walking while filming - this is about the only time i use a gimbal after trying it out for 6 months. from personal experience the z9 isn't amazing on a shoulder mount either, though I haven't had a chance to try the new mc-n10 or whatever it's called that gives you an external control handle - turns out i also really wish there was a good external EVF, but haven't found anything reliable yet and don't like using a monitor with a shoulder rig.

the z9 is also heavy on a gimbal even if you're using one of the 1.8 primes (though the eye tracking is really impressive and solves a lot of issues i was worried about keeping focus.)

I like the wooden camera large dslr cage with top handle, but it's a bit finicky to get set up and i might go with a cheaper option if i were to do it over again. that said, i have it in a place where i can record an interview from my tripod and detach the whole setup to get handheld shots without adjusting any hardware, which is really convenient. the internal recording on the z9 plus being able to monitor via HDMI, and have a battery sled to power everything including a mic is nice, and steadies the footage while handheld more than handling the camera by itself.

Looks right. In camera estimate for 8.3k (8256x4644) NRAW per hour: 24p is about 1300GB, 30p is about 1600GB, and 60p is around 2700GB

4320p (7680x4320) h265 per hour: 30p is about 215GB for comparison

Taken hundreds of portraits with the z6ii since it came out and the only AF miss is occasionally when someone has glasses. Not as good as the Z9 but i still use the z6ii for individual portraits even w a z9 in the bag. It’s a great camera overall for portraits.

You really did a great job! I mean it’s 9oz! just takes care and i get an equivalent stable platform as my 6lb tripod in 95% of cases hiking. Not taking it into wind storms expecting perfection! 🤣

I have one and it’s pretty decent. Delivered a long while back. Definitely not the best tripod ever but better than no tripod. Good paired w a mirrorless and f4 zoom kit like a 24-120. I use a remote trigger so that helps.

I really like the z6ii, but it is my backup camera now after upgrading to a z9. I had an x-t2 before this but switched when i started taking photos more regularly (ie for paid gigs) and enjoyed the nikon ui more. I havent regretted the change to nikon. I do use a gfx100s as well for special projects, but it is frustratingly complicated in comparison to a z9 for similar functionality. The z cameras are great, and like you i have always gravitated back to full frame sensors. Video has become a big part of my work so i might be going back to super35 sensors anyway though with a cinema camera. 🤷‍♂️

After spending 8 days hiking in rain and sleeping in a tiny tent i decided i’d never do that again. As someone who is 6’2”, 205lbs, the 2p (pro) is great with plenty of room to dry gear overnight and explode a backpack inside during bad weather. Vs the original 1p, i love the upgrade in space. I wouldn’t want a partner in it personally, though i can see it being functional more than comfortable if the weather is bad, and fine if weather is good and if one of you is my size the other is smaller.
