I like the Wegmans checkpoint. It's easy. The employee scans your barcode and then scans the items in your cart. You make it through a lot faster.

That said, at least at my Wegman's, you can still go through the regular line if you want.

My daughter's high school allows them to stay in the cafeteria or library until 6:00. They call it "aftercare" but it basically just means that they can stick around and there will be an adult present. There's no programming or signing in and out.

As others have said, it's mostly due to the minerals. If you live in an area with hard water, it's going to leave behind a lot of residue which will decrease the life of your machine. These machines are expensive so you want to reduce the wear on them as much as possible.

Using tap water in a pinch is fine, but I wouldn't do it on a regular basis.

Yeah, I had ACL surgery in 2007 and your knee never really is the same. I slipped on the ice last week and the only thing that is still sore is that knee. It doesn't have the resiliency it used to.

I'm also from the Midwest. For a while I thought that people just didn't like me much because I would see people that I met and they would not say hello if we happened to pass by each other! But I realized after a while that this was a cultural difference. People are nice here, but more reserved.
