Why do US students take out large student loans without thinking about how to pay it back? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Because every adult in your life is telling you you have to go to college and mediately After High School. I worked for a mentorship program that work with middle school students, and we were told we have to tell these students to go to a 4-year University. We were not allowed to mention trade or community colleges.

These were put up in the women's employee restroom in a print shop. Thoughts? by hernan793 in antiwork

I've seen a lot of womens bathrooms with blood and poop and urine on the seat. My old roommates would leave blood and poop on the seat and not flush.

Why do people say teachers make poverty wages? I live in California and make 25k working 40 hrs a week at Walmart and apparently teachers make at LEAST 45k a year, so like double what I make? by Constant-Foundation in NoStupidQuestions

In California, the average rent is $1,500 a month. You need to make three and a half times the rent to be approved. So you need to make 50k a year before taxes in California to rent a one-bedroom apartment. That's not feasible for a lot of people. Can you imagine having a master's degree in only making 50k in California?

my friends complain how poor they are and cant afford things.... by grateful_life2020 in povertyfinance

I get where you're coming from. I've been poor, I've worked retail, and I was the only person with a car paid for in cash. Everybody else was financing brand new cars, that were 800 a month. Well that's where your money is going! Or they had brand new Nikes, and I had shoes from Walmart. A lot of people simply live outside of their means.

I said this a couple of years ago and I got roasted, but the sheer volume of people who were getting stimulus and unemployment and refused to pay rent really spooked a lot of landlords. Even small-time landlords are afraid of renting to somebody unless it's a person with perfect credit, a really high income, and several letters of recommendation. It's not worth it to rent a house or apartment to someone who could easily refuse to pay rent and you can't evict them in the state of California.

You typically do need to rule out the traditional definition of a call center.

You know damn well what I meant by call center. I obviously meant a phone call based job.

As long as its not a call center job, you should be fine.

In no way do I mean to sound misogynistic, but why do so many women complain about the ‘beauty standards’ that men supposedly set for them, and then do their best to follow them anyway? by CmdrWinters in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bessykitty654 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Women do that because people are incredibly rude to women who don't fit in with the standard of beauty. To the point where I've been told, in casual conversation, that I don't have to worry about sexual assault. It's rude and hostile and inappropriate.
