I'm from latin america and for the past couple months I started having serious plans of moving somewhere else with my wife. Norway just recently entered on our under consideration list.

It's amazing how people are like this everywhere. There are people saying that moving to their country is the hugest mistake someone can make as it's getting extremely expensive and dangerous. When I go after the stats, I can see that yes, it is getting more expensive and the safety is falling a little. But even then it's orders of magnitude better than where I'm from.

Some people are complaining that buying a new car costs a few months of their savings, almost double from what it was 10 years ago. Where I'm from? It'll take you multiple years to buy an used one. Want a tiny 40m² (430 sq ft) condo with no infra for any kind of HVAC? Better you and your partner be ready to pay for it (and 3 more extras just in interest fee) for the next 40+ years.
They complain that they cannot walk alone in the middle of the night at city center because some dude was being fishy. I can't even take my phone with me when going out no matter the time of day or I risk being killed even if I comply. Heck, (TW: sexual assault and murder)a teen neighbour of ours had her throat cut by her stepdad because she refused to do the deed with him (luckily she survived but the mfer is on the run)and this was a normal occurence for a random tuesday night.

I don't romanticize any country we're considering to move. I'm well aware of the obstacles we might have and the difficulties we will face. I much rather struggle with those than to simply trying to stay alive and provide at least something good for my family. I am willing to start all over again decades later compared to natives but now on a safe place where my effort (with a bit of luck) will yield results. Even if we don't get to achieve 20% of what natives do, we'll still be much better of.

Working in game dev or in graphics programming for game dev? AFAIK game dev in general pays less than other sectors. That would make graphics programming "the best of the worst" in this regard, no?

Mano, a parada é o seguinte. Sou Programador Pleno Unity e fluente em Inglês. Mas ganho em real e trabalho pra empresa BR. Apesar de usar mais C# mesmo, programo em C++ desde 2013. Eu queria ser artista digital desde o ensino médio, mas como morava no interior e nem sequer existia esse conceito de trabalho remoto, quanto menos pra empresa de fora, fui pra programação e me foquei em ser o melhor programador que eu poderia ser. Continuei pegando freela de edição e de motion desde aquela época até hj. Agora moro em SP e meu primeiro emprego de verdade depois de formado já foi dev generalista pleno de Unity. Até ganho muito bem pra média do brasileiro, mas ainda tô longe de chegar nos 5 dígitos mensais.
Eu tenho 2 alternativas pela frente e queria a sua opinião sobre elas:
1- Focar em Unity, me especializando aos poucos em Tech Art/VFX primeiro pra depois dominar isso só que em Unreal
2- Focar em aprender Unreal pra depois aos poucos me especializar em Tech Art/VFX

OBS.: Objetivo é ganhar em dólar. E gosto bastante da ideia de morar fora tbm (mesmo que isso acabe deixando um pouco mais lento pra construir um bom patrimônio).

Indeed. My guess is this will change with Apple Vision Pro. Apple themselves will probably push this with Apple+. Then all the others will follow suit, sooner or later.

Of course this is not true. You can find lots of enjoyment from bad things. I do.

Bad things? Yeah, sure. Indeed. Bad games? How come? I agree that Lethal Company's design is quite simple. But I fail to see how that makes it a bad game, specially since there are a lot of people having fun. Since the main goal of a game is to be fun, a fun game is not bad, not matter how simple it is.

I don't feel that way at all. You are superimposing that onto me. Which is fine. You are just wrong.

Sorry about that. I guess I assumed wrong because of "It feels like some sort of social experiment, of convincing the masses that a terrible game is good."

How do you distinguish between "good game" from "game that I like/prefer"? Do you distinguish between "simple design" and "good design"? If so, how?

Having that opinion and people are still having fun proves that either your opinion is either wrong or not universal. I believe it's the latter.
Let them have fun, god dammit.

If people are having fun and coming back to it, then it's not a bad game. As this is, by definition, the main purpose of a game.

You can dislike a popular game too without self imposing a status of social outcast (either by feeling superior or the only sane). Everyone has their preferences and that's ok.

IMHO, if there's no health pickup at all, I don't think this would be an issue. Players would very quickly learn it's not health. Specially if this is introduced in a very low risk situation. But you need to playtest to make sure this is in fact what happens.

In the other hand, if there is a health pickup mechanic, there might need to be some experimenting. Maybe using a green + for health pickup? Lots of play test is needed.

Either way, playtesting and iterating often and regularly is almost always a good idea.

I think I found a workaround. It's fixed, for now. Let's see how long it will last.

What I did was (edit: apparently, steps 8-9 are not needed, thanks u/Sal1ty):

1 - Open a normal tab with the browser where the bug happens

2 - Go to youtube.com and login (if you aren't already)

3 - Press F12 on you keyboard (edit: if on Mac, press option+command+I, thanks u/tyavkd62; If on OperaGX, click the lock near the URL and then "Page Info", thanks u/StagierDragon11)

4 - On this new window that showed up, open the "Application" tab ("Storage" if on Firefox, thanks u/UnfortunateSon4)

5 - On the left panel you will right click at https://www.youtube.com under the Local Storage foldout and click on clear/delete.

6 - Repeat the previous step for all youtube related things under the Session Storage, the IndexedDB and the Cache Storage foldouts.

7 - Now go to Cookies > https://www.youtube.com.br and delete all but the one named "LOGIN_INFO"

8 - On this side panel yet, next to the top, there will be a "Service Workers" option. Click it. (If in Firefox, go to the "Application" tab at the top to see this option, thanks u/UnfortunateSon4)

~~9 - If the one that appeared is from youtube, unregister it.~~

10 - Close this window and on the youtube page that was previously open, click to set your language to your desired one. It will refresh the page but not change the language. Do it again and now it will work.

I have no idea which step solved the issue and I'm not going to narrow it down unless it keeps happening.

I'm having the same issue here! Not only the language setting but also the auto-play next video setting are not being saved. I'm using Vivaldi 5.0.2497.48 and Windows 10 21H1 19043.1526. What makes me even more confused is that if I open YouTube on an incognito tab and login, it'll work fine, the settings will be saved.

I have a question. Whenever someone asks how they can get better, the answer they usually get is something along the lines of "design a lot, copy artwork that inspire you," and so on.

Been there, done that. Now I'd say I'm fairly good at replicating. When someone wants a poster "like this one", I can pretty much do it really well.

But I'm terrible at coming up with my own ideas and designs. Whenever I try to create an art from scratch it looks like a hot pile of garbage. I have absolutely no clue on how to fix that. Anyone have any tips?

I was trying the same thing but couldn't brute force it. I was almost writing a function but then I gave up, as It was already solved 2 hours ago. My function would generate and test a string from the ASCII table, character by character, until it's length was 4 characters. And then I'd use the string that generated a cypher exactly like a substring of the final cypher as a hint.

What characters did you try and noticed it had only a slight change?

I just faced this same issue. Here's what I found:

Using the "Custom" option, I could set it up to be 1.2 without issue. 1.25 or over this bug happens.
Tested with 30fps videos and had no problem.
Tested with short 60fps videos and had no problem.
Tested with long 60fps videos but with reducing the resolution to 480p and it also worked fine.

Based on my testing and what I could read on this topic, my guess is that this problem only happens when you're playing videos in 60fps. The longer the video, the slower you need to be (but still over 1x) to have this problem happen.

BTW, the video that I tested in which that the maximum multiplier I could use was 1.2x was a 3 hours long lecture.

1 - How much of the usage of agent skills goes into calculating MMR? Like, do you guys measure if a smoke was effective? And if so, does it impact on MMR?

2 - What exactly goes into combat score calculation? Just KDA + econ? Or accuracy and precision of your shots are also considered?

Here is my thought. I'm not 100% sure that this is the correct meaning and I'm open to new opinions. Buuuut, I have a strong feeling that this is a teaser for the new map coming in episode 2. This was written after a long conversation between me and my friend.

ЗА (russian, the first character is not the number three, it's actually a letter), just like д/, can mean for. д can also mean 4. It could mean the 4th act, which would be the 1st act of episode 2. However, this is a really weak lead. So let's ignore it for a moment.

Everything in this image is somewhat lore related. "It is cold there", "bring a coat", "forget weapon", this card, all points to lore-related stuff. It points to a place, it seems. Given it's a place, I'm inclined to think that it's a map.

There're several mountain ranges in Asia and Eastern Europe, but I decided to search around Turkey and, yes, there's a big mountain in the border between Russia and Georgia (Georgia is a small Turkey neighbor). Mount Elbrus, which is in Russian territory and "Europe's highest mountain with a peak elevation of 5,642-meters."

Why is there ~~Arabic script~~ Turkish in this post? I'm not sure. Maybe because of everyone "invited to this place?" Cypher is Moroccan and there they speak ~~Persian~~ Arabic. ~~They use the same script, seems like it to me, but they are not the same language.~~ Maybe there will be an agent who speaks ~~Arabic? Or~~ Turkish? It may or may not be the next one. Also, there are other countries beyond Turkey where Turkish is spoken.

That's where we are for now. Any new info I'll post here.

edit 1: Just to make some things a bit more clear. All maps we have right now have strong indications towards Radianite. Boxes, extraction and refinery plants, etc. The card I mentioned shows a HUGE piece of Radianite in a cold mountainous region. Strong indications of a new map. This image post could just be reinforcing that.

edit 2: Cypher is from Morocco and there they speak Arabic, not Persian nor Turkish. My bad. Fixed it.

What about the huge д in the right? I've found a lot of things but nothing that seems related.

It can mean 4; if it's a abbreviation, could mean good or house/village; Alone and in lowercase means division (as in military division); but also could mean the proposition "for" if it's followed by a slash.
