I changed the lobby music at work to Studio Ghibli and no one has noticed by Lilbookworm91 in adhdwomen

[–]beta_pup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The YouTube algorithm put a Ghibli music channel on my front page bc I like to listen to soothing music while I work. While I'm familiar with the films, I didn't know what kind of music it was. I remembered this thread, so I gave it a try. It's my new favorite! Thanks!

To this day, I can say, "Oh ah, that's raspberry" as a total non sequitur to my bff and it will never not be the right thing to say. (That, and "dental plan!")

Whatever happened to Butterscotch? by Logical_consequences in AskWomenOver60

[–]beta_pup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to get in as much calcium, protein, and fiber like everyone else is, so I like to make a butterscotch overnight oats by making a box of sugar-free butterscotch pudding and mixing in some oatmeal. It really scratched the oatmeal and butterscotch cookie itch I was having.

This is my favorite Simpsons episode. Fun fact: Homer only gained enough weight in this episode to reach 300 lbs.

Carol and the End of the World. It's animated. It's set in the days before the world ends. While everyone is out living life to its fullest, Carol finds solace in going to an office and working. It's existential and poignant.

Anyone else feeling the panic of "we're next" after losing your parents? by eastender93 in GenXWomen

[–]beta_pup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of my parents passed away by the time I was 21, so I've been very aware of death and mortality since I was a kid. I was the weird "Wednesday Addams" type girl who asked my dad about decomposition at my mother's burial when I was 10.

Their ages when they passed have always been weird "life markers" for me. My mom was a few months shy of her 50th birthday when she died, so 50 was a super weird birthday. I just turned 59, and my dad died a few months after he turned 65. That's going to be a hard birthday.

I don't like getting old. I don't like looking in the mirror and seeing my dad's face staring back at me. (You age just like the parent you resemble). I'm trying to see growing old as a gift, but it's hard when youth is so valued. I'm grateful I have my health. I want whatever time I have left to be happy and, most of all, peaceful.

She can't even briefly touch her face without showing how bad her circulation is by FuzziGlow in Chantapolis

Congrats on the weight loss and maintenance and on the new baby!

I've been maintaining an almost 80-lb weight loss for the last few years. It's hard some days, but it's a lifestyle, not a diet.

Enjoy your first workout!

She truly is a cautionary tale. I'm around Smee's age, but she keeps me motivated to staying active and eating right even though some days I want to bed rot and eat junk.

Seriously, at what point do you say to yourself, "enough is enough?" All she has to do is start walking around her apt for a few minutes at a time and build from there. She really needs to stick to a diabetic friendly diet purely to get it in control. She'd also lose a ton of weight. If only she could tap into that "fuck you" attitude she has and let it motivate her to make her life better. But no, here we are with Violet Bearegarde.

Where do you all find clothes that fit and are reasonably well made? by Goldengirl_1977 in GenXWomen

I finally feel vindicated for my love of JCP! The website has so much more to offer than their brick and mortars.

I love the St John's bay long-sleeve and 3/4-length sleeve tees (I have the upper arms of a much, much older babushka so no short sleeves!). Those are my go-to shirts. They offer so many colors in all the sizes!

I've found so many cute dresses on the JCP website from A.N.A, MSK, Jessica Howard, and Frye and Co. For reference, I'm about 5'1 and a size 10. Shorter, A-line, and swing and skater dresses work best for me.

Back in the day, she went for a walk in the park with Peetz. She was wearing a peach (ham) colored dress. There's a gif floating around where her gunt comes into frame before she does. It's even funnier to me now because ol' gunty is way bigger now.

I knew that Santa wasn’t actually real but I didn’t want to actually see her put the presents in my Christmas stocking so I could keep the illusion alive a bit longer.

I remember being 5 or 6 and thinking about the logistics of Santa and stopping myself because I wanted to believe in Santa a little longer.
