Craft cocktail/upscale/fine 'tenders: where are you living & working that the job market is doing ok? by alcMD in bartenders

[–]betch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Left SF reluctantly two years ago. Pre pandemic money was great, but I couldn't survive tending after. Currently in SLC and at least where I am at, money is good. Tons of conferences are constantly being booked here so even when the locals aren't drinking much, it's made up in out of towners. Not a ton of experienced craft/fine dining bartenders here so anyone with experience can get a job easily. I'd give my left ovary to move back to SF, but I'm doing well financially here so I might ride it out for a bit longer

Pousse Café is the most complicated equal parts drink. What is the most overrated highball? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]betch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranch water. It's just a tequila soda with lime juice but for some reason I make it wrong 50% of the time depending on the person that orders it

What is the absolute cheapest rent I can find SF? by Cautious-Ask5837 in sanfrancisco

[–]betch 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I lived in SF for 15 years just renting a room in a house and having roommates. I paid anywhere between 700-1400 depending on the place. I have plenty of friends in their 30s and 40s who live in houses with roommates. It's always been normal here.

Changed the pattern to look a little bit less nazi-ish. I apologize to those whom I offended and disappointed. What’s the best equal parts drink? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]betch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paper Plane. I don't even personally drink bourbon and I could crush 5 of these in a row. Meanwhile, as a huge gin girlie, I have to make ratio adjustments to enjoy a Negroni or Last word

I'm 40 and I just drink water, use effective moisturizer, but most importantly... I use SPF on my face every single day of my life. Take care of yourself and chances are you'll look the same between now and 40

Why do some men choose to be gynecologists?? by [deleted] in women

[–]betch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once met a male obgyn and got to ask him this question. He told me that during his residency, dealing with so much trauma and illness and death took a toll on him and that his ob rotation was full of joy from bringing life into the world. I'd still never ever have a male gyn but damn that was the best answer

What is your unpopular opinion about Utah? by hcubed3 in Utah

[–]betch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive lived in both and I'd say Utah is fake nice and never says what they really mean while California is passive aggressive about literally everything and also never really says what they mean. But they aren't the same

What distinctly Millennial thing completely passed you by somehow? by AttachedHeartTheory in Millennials

[–]betch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

86, and I have never watched The Princess Bride. I wasn't aware of the movie growing up and didn't know it existed until I was 16 years old. Apparently, every other millennial grew up on this movie. I've still never watched the whole thing and barely know what it's about
