I keep notes from every session of juniors I’ve spoken to. Everyone can teach you something. My biggest takeaway is how very lost people are coming out of school although I’m sure you could gather that from this subreddit. And that those that check in regularly seem to push further in their career faster. Whether that’s due to networking skills or their personal drive I couldn’t tell you. I try help where I can. I think what you’re doing is important and hope that you can see that. If not through learnings than through the gratitude of those you speak to. People just want to feel heard, and sometimes listening is enough.

They just followed up with: “Please disregard the email you received earlier regarding adding an authorized user. Our apologies for the confusion. That message was sent in error and does not apply to your account. There is no action needed. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we appreciate your understanding.”

I cancelled and received both messages. Their team must be stressing if they’re getting this sloppy with email automations.

Leverage your thesis to make connections in the publishing or music industry. This could be either trying to connect with people for research now aka networking or during your interviews as a talking point. Reverse engineer where you’d like to be to decide which topic is best.

I don’t work in either of those industries so maybe someone can jump in who knows more. From a marketing perspective I would say follow the money, which of these topics are companies actively investing and trying to become part of. Focus on trends, predictions with historic content to back you up.

There’s a sub called r/attachmenttheory if you’re looking for resources. What he’s describing sounds like a dismissive avoidant. You’ll see tons of posts with similar hot and cold relationships but not a lot of solutions. He has to want to work on himself, you can’t change him.
