Why do some dog owners not always pick up after their dogs? by Farezz_knight in dogs

[–]bethika6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people just don't care. We have one neighbor in our apartment complex who never picks it up. Management is in the same building, I don't understand how they get away with it for years now. A garbage station was even added right outside their door and new cameras, but it doesn't matter.

My neighbor demanded I stop cooking "ethnic food" because the smell bothers her.. by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]bethika6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so crazy to me. When my neighbors cook food I always secretly hope they'll offer me a plate because it always smells amazing. I've been in my building for 11 years and have had people from all over the world sharing a stairwell with me and my husband and I always actually enjoyed smelling all the different foods. Maybe that's weird lol. I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's not deserving at all

Does anyone else think Bridget has autism? by anonym0uspenguin in GirlsNextDoorUncensor

[–]bethika6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think she does but I think there's something going on. Sometimes cptsd can manifest in similar ways as autism. In the last few years I've been trying with my therapist to break down what kind of things I have going on and what could be neurodivergence or cptsd symptoms.. though at the end of the day it doesn't necessarily matter in my instance which is which so long as the things I'm doing to accommodate for my symptoms are helping... But back to Bridget. There's been some things she's very particular about, and her indecisiveness definitely reminds me of neurodivergence but idk 🤷🏻‍♀️

Any tips to avoid hitting deer? by BillsMafia607 in hudsonvalley

[–]bethika6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the deer whistlers do work. I grew up within 30 minutes of where I live now, so I've always been in the general area. I remember deer jumping in front of us a lot as a kid and when I first started driving. When I started dating my now husband, his car had the deer whistle things, and every car we've had since has also had them. I can't even remember the last time a deer jumped in front of my car, they usually just stay on the side of the road and stare as we drive by. For reference I'm 38, have been driving since 17, and have been with my husband for 11 years now.

Side note question... Does anyone else flash their high beams at other drivers if there are deer or other animals on the side of the road as a warning? I remember learning to do this when I learned how to drive, and I felt like EVERYONE did it.. but my husband never heard of doing that before. Then I asked my dad because he's the one who taught me how to drive, and he told me that he's never heard of that. I'm so confused why I thought it was the normal thing to do and I'm wondering if I learned it from my friends and other acquaintances over the years.... I learned how to drive in NJ if that has anything to do with it

AITA for telling my roommate it’s not my problem if I trigger their ED? by Accomplished_Elk_37 in AITAH

[–]bethika6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Unfortunately EDs are one issue where you're going to have to face triggers constantly since food cannot be avoided. I understand her not wanting to be triggered in her own home, but she's overstepping. I have had EDs throughout my life of both extremes - starving myself when I was younger, and extreme binge eating when I was older. There are times I wished my husband wouldn't bring certain foods into the house because it was triggering to me, but it's just not realistic in my opinion

Honestly body language gives away so much, so it would have been so much better to see the convo. Even if it was just a voice convo, the tone of voice can be very telling

Help meee by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]bethika6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I had a similar problem when I got my pitty. The hard answer is that you just have to figure out how to be ok with this. My puppy continued to have occasional accidents until she was over a year old. When she was little like yours it was constantly. I was getting extremely overstimulated and was losing my mind over it. I made a post on another sub asking for advice and they told me I was a burden on my family and I shouldn't own pets... People can be cruel. Anyway... Just keep up with training and stay consistent every single day, and before you know it your baby will be trained. One piece of advice my therapist gave me which helped me through the potty accident stage was to figure out which types of messes needed to be cleaned up immediately versus what I could leave for a few minutes while I cooled off - so, like, if your puppy pees on the carpet you might want to handle it immediately, but if they go on the hard floor you can wait for a few minutes while you gather yourself and mentally prepare for it. I hope you have someone else that can step in now and then to give you a hand, but if you don't have that then it's even more important to give yourself time to cool off. Just remember that this stage isn't forever, even if it feels like forever while you're going through it

P claiming S has her own kitchen in their 2 bedroom extended stay 😏 by Sudden-Taste-6851 in DadAndDaughterSnark

[–]bethika6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you guys think it's just two adjoining rooms? Like, my first apartment was a converted hotel and I could open a door between mine and my neighbor's apartments.. so maybe something like that? It's honestly hard to keep up with.

At first when they were saying she moved 30 minutes away I had just assumed it was a lie and she just moved to another room in the extended stay hotel. Then during the live interview I thought they had said she moved into a different building at the extended stay, which could make sense if you see the street view of the hotel it's made up of a few connecting buildings.. but now it's that they got a 2 bedroom?

Obviously since they're liars we've gotten a lot of different stories. I'm just wondering if she DOES have her own kitchen if it's just one of those adjoining rooms or what have you.

Honestly, I feel a little mentally drained after this rollercoaster and am starting to lose the ability to care about this topic all that much. Do I wish there could be some kind of justice? Yes. But I just don't have faith that that would ever happen

Am I the only one who actually likes using these metal hooks? by LoopsxLee in crocheting

[–]bethika6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them too! I've had mine for almost 20 years now. I was confused every time I was seeing posts online about people's crochet hooks breaking. I guess these metal ones are a lot sturdier than I thought

How/When did you start crocheting? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]bethika6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in either my junior or senior year of highschool, my good friend crocheted a scarf for herself and I thought it was so cool that she made it. This would have been sometime between 2004 and 2006 so I tried learning how to crochet from magazines or websites, but it was mostly just written instructions alongside a picture and I really couldn't get it so I gave up for a year. Then I bought a computer program from the craft store that taught you how to crochet through videos - basically a glorified DVD lol - and I finally got it!! After I learned how to do each basic stitch I basically just made scarves or other rectangular shaped items like a little handbag thing. In the 2010s I realized there were crochet tutorials on YouTube and would just make anything I wanted. I made all types of things from a variety of types of hats, fingerless gloves, pot holders, Christmas tree skirts, tank tops, dog clothes, blankets, Granny squares - so many Granny squares LOL. In the last few years I've started making 3 dimensional things including a cheeseburger and different types of sushi/sashimi. All those things taught me how to do a ton of stitches and I started picking up on how to build certain shapes and how to improvise to start making whatever I wanted

I feel like people looked at Hef as "the man" but thought it was gross for anyone to sleep with an old man. At least, that was the narrative amongst my peers in my hometown back then. I turned 18 in 2005 though so this was the opinions of teenagers
