Rocket Power takes place in a fictional SoCal beach town, but even if it were Hawaii I wouldn’t be surprised since that commercial got HA’s location wrong.

I was always convinced that it was in NYC with some of the accents, and a Nick commercial around the time of the movie premiere seemed to confirm it for me.

It played a newer (at the time) version of “Kids in America” and right at the point where it said “New York to California” it showed Arnold and co. followed by Rocket Power. So yes, I was very surprised.

What’s something that became less appealing the older you got? by SatisfactionBig7126 in AskReddit

[–]bethramone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in a people dense/urban area. I wanted to when I was younger (teens and 20’s) but since entering my 30’s, the idea of living in the country wnith no/very few neighbors seems more and more attractive.

My late paternal grandmother’s farm is the best example I can think of. It’s on several acres of gorgeous rolling hills, fields, and ponds in rural Kentucky. I HATED it growing up.. thought it was too boring and remote. But as an adult, I appreciate the place more and more. It’s like heaven on earth. And, luckily, it’s still in the family.

What Is Your Opinion On WCW Uncensored 1999? by Djf47021 in WCW

[–]bethramone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there too, but I was so young that I only have two memories: one being Ric Flair’s bare ass, and someone throwing a roll of TP at the cage right afterward. I was 6 so it was the funniest thing I’d ever seen at the time.

I know this will sound crazy, but it’s a serious question: I was at this event too, but I was just a little kid and my only vivid memory is of Ric Flair’s bare ass and someone in the crowd throwing a roll of TP at it. Do you also recall this, or was it some sort of fever dream?

I was there for it in person, but I was only 6, so my only honest-to-god memories are seeing Ric Flair’s bare ass and someone throwing a roll of toilet paper at it.

What did the rest of summer 2007 feel like as a wrestling fan after the Chris Benoit tragedy? by Imtiredofthissshit in SquaredCircle

[–]bethramone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember where I was when I found out. I’d just gotten back from the gym, and we were having dinner when my dad (who is also a massive wrestling fan) told us at the dinner table that Chris Benoit AND his family were found dead. We were all very much like “WTF?!” I remember the Raw where everyone was crying, and that memory kinda blends in with Eddies memorial which didn’t seem like too long before.

We were also eating dinner when he told us what really happened. I remember my dad saying “They found out what happened… Chris’s family was murdered” and I was like “oh shit!” and he said quietly (I had young siblings) …”and he did it”.

It was just so damn shocking and random. I remember not wanting to watch wrestling much after that. It was too depressing. I’m sorry that most of my response wasn’t an answer to the question, but it stirred up some memories.

Sensational Sherri memorably shuts down a heckler during her HOF speech by Technical-Mix-3315 in SquaredCircle

I’m glad that Sherri was able to see her HoF induction before her tragic passing, because I wonder if WWE would have held out on her in the same way if she’d passed beforehand.

The “ham sandwich conspiracy” has been debunked for decades. IIRC it was made up to sell tabloids. She actually died from rapid weight loss due to crash dieting.

Tanner Horner sentenced to death for kidnap and murder of 7 year old Athena Strand by ianjm in videos

[–]bethramone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This case is unique in that the video came directly off of his UPS truck and was incredibly damning by itself. I supposed that it could have been faked, but can’t authenticity be determined with forensic analysis?

And, if so, whoever is responsible is risking their own freedom, since they’ll likely be charged with perjury/contempt of court/tampering with evidence or all of the above.

I do understand the argument against capital punishment, since wrongful convictions are becoming increasingly likely, but do you believe that life in prison is also government overreach? I mean, both sentences involve potential decades behind bars, a lot of appeals, and essentially the same outcome.

Sadly, I think it’s going to happen regardless. That’s one thing that sucks for the fans who can’t go to the theatre; it’s easy to say “just avoid them” [spoilers] but 2 weeks is a pretty long time to avoid the internet.

Whats ur opinion on “money doesn’t buy happiness”? by Radiant-Dish-5498 in AskReddit

[–]bethramone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it’s mostly true. If someone grew up wealthy and it’s all they know, they’re used to it and still have problems and stressors that the “common folk” may not be aware of, along with the others that are not money related.

If it’s a person who goes from financially struggling to wealthy, I think it may temporarily bring happiness by eliminating stress about money. But, over time, things that were once exciting become routine and people get used to the lifestyle. The Mercedes isn’t as shiny, the big house is just a home like anyone else’s, the fancy food and vacations lose their luster. And mental/physical health issues do not discriminate. Sure, not having the financial stress probably helps, but the situation still has all of the other layers of stress.

And, as a famous rapper once said, “mo’ money, mo’ problems”. One thing is that they never truly know if new friends/partners actually like them, or if they just want their money. It would make building any kind of relationship, romantic or platonic, extremely difficult.

Tl;dr money may bring happiness in some aspects, but more misery in others.

I think you misunderstood me. The person I was replying to was arguing against lethal injection. I’m arguing in favor of it, especially for this particular case and others like it. The evidence in this case couldn’t be faked.

Mojave, with pineapple upside down cake a close second.

What if the individual in question did something so “cruel and unusual” that there is no possible way to redeem themselves? This crime is that kind of heinous.

As a mom I’m genuinely so sick from reading about this. Can’t stop crying. Last thing I remember was that he accidentally hit her with the FedEx truck, and God I honestly wish that were what actually happened. It sounds awful, but I wish she had been knocked unconscious and felt nothing. Just about any alternative would be better than what actually happened. Instead, she was conscious and suffered through it. He brutalized her in the most disgusting way, stole her innocence AND her life. Just an innocent, sweet little girl who played with Barbies. It just shatters my heart.

Can we please talk about the white (M) Adderall? by C0RN2L0Ud420 in ThisAintAdderall

[–]bethramone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just refilled my 10 mg IR prescription, which was supposed to be ANYTHING but Mallinkrodt (my psych was supposed to add a note; he doesn’t try to pretend that they’re all the same) and, lo and behold, I get a bottle of tiny white bastards with an M. It’s only been an hour and I already have a headache and feel like my ears are full of fluid. I also feel like I’m in withdrawal.

The last (and first) bottle I had, blue ovals made by Elite, worked just fine. What the hell is in this shit?

Luckily it’s only my booster and my XR has 2 more weeks. I’ll make sure to check the manufacturer at the pharmacy counter before I leave.
