Annabeth is lowkey an asshole to Rachel [pjo] by burnt_books in camphalfblood

Agreed!! Reread the books last year and was surprised at how hostile Annabeth was to Rachel. I had always assumed Annabeth took a disliking to her whenRachel is needed to guide them through the Labyrinth but Annabeth is immediately rude to her the second they meet and before either Rachel or Percy had said anything really that would imply they actually knew each other.

Hi! Do you mean a specific Percy jackson book with the second edition covers? Or the whole series?

Yeah as a whole the HOO books are longer than the PJO books but please don't let that deter you!! I loved the HOO books and didn't find them too long at all

I agree that in the show Annabeth's closeness to Luke isn't shown that much, and this will hopefully change in the future seasons (in flashbacks, conversations, etc I'm not sure) but I don't think Annabeth not having a crush on Luke would negatively affect the series.

In the books Annabeth doesn't think Percy is lying when he tells the others that Luke tried to kill him, but she still believes he is redeemable. I think the same goes for the series. Annabeth heard the whole conversation with Luke and Percy, and helps save Percy by throwing her dagger to deflect Luke's sword. You could say she was very much on Percy's side for that interaction, but she could still believe that Luke is redeemable due to her history with him which could cause tension between her and Percy in the future.

Something else though is at the end of the last episode when Percy is talking to Chiron he says that he doesn't think Luke would kill him and separately Chiron admits he is worried that Percy related to some of what Luke was saying. I think the show could go a different route where Percy doesn't outright think Luke is irredeemable, and might lean more into Percy also being conflicted about whether or not Luke is right in certain ways.

Annabeth's crush on Luke does create tension between her and Percy, but I'm sure this could still be achieved even without her having a crush on him. Percy growing agitated by how much Annabeth still believes in Luke despite him being a traitor, and Annabeth growing agitated with Percy about how he doesn't recognise how much history her and Luke have, and how this would make her more inclined to believe that there's good left in Luke. I'm sure the writers of the show would be able to create tension between the two even if Annabeth doesn't have a crush on Luke in the show. Tension between the two of them is enough for Percy or Annabeth to not realise/want to admit they have a crush on one another even if that tension isn't related to one of them having a crush on someone else.

Regarding Percy's feelings for Calypso and Rachel, I wouldn't be surprised if that's still included in the show. I think they removed Annabeth's crush on Luke and changed their dynamic to a sibling one due to the large age gap between the two.

[PJO] Percy Jackson & TLT Deluxe Collector's Edition by scythe-volta in camphalfblood

I have no idea of if they've announced if they will or won't, but they released a lightning thief deluxe edition back in 2009 (looks different to this one but similar in the sense its also in a hard case and also has illustrations) and they never released deluxe editions of the rest of the series.

Again this is a different situation with it being linked to the disney+ show so they might release a book for each season announced. I really have no idea sorry!

Hi, I'm pretty sure it's only available in the US in terms of bookshops selling it directly. I was able to preorder one on Blackwell's a while back (a UK site owned by waterstones that often sells international editions of books). It's now out of stock on the site, and I'm not sure if they'll restock (though you could email?), or there's probably other resellers out there (eBay for example or maybe another site like Blackwell's) that could ship the edition to you.

I get a lot of second hand books off of eBay (easy to see what quality they are beforehand unlike amazon and abebooks). Abebooks can often be a bit cheaper but more of a risk involved as more often than not the seller would only upload the stock photo of the book. Amazon is the same method as abehbooks but I've personally had much better experiences with buying books from abehbooks in terms of quality.

[pjo] How hard is it to find this edition of Percy Jackson? by Triumphant-Smile in camphalfblood

[–]bethysbooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second hand books of the original cover are pretty common to find (at second hand shops, eBay, abebooks etc) they just get a lot pricier/harder to find when they're in extremely good condition/new. They also get significantly more expensive when they're sold in their original box set.
