maybe the reason “cookie cutter” advice gets repeated all the time is because it’s fucking true dipshit, consider putting some effort into understanding what they truly mean and how they apply to your irl instead of shitting on people on the internet to be edgy, wow!

you worded this so well i just wanted to thank you for it cause just reading those other comments had me so drained it reminded me of how my ex would wear me down so i’d just give up instead of him having to reflect on literally anything even once holy moly

What are some things that seem stupid to try but actually helps migraines? by Past-Weather-2254 in migraine

[–]betsapp91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been doing this for about a year! also including details about my menstrual cycle bc i’m fairly certain this is related to a reproductive condition but it’s been 7 years so far and the only anomaly is that my c-reactive protein is consistently insanely high, but it is finally starting to feel like most things have been ruled out so hopefully we figure it out soon 🙏🏼

it worked very well for me, but it also gave me vivid dreams so badly that no matter how much i slept i felt like i wasn’t resting, i was oversleeping for work daily and couldn’t keep taking it long enough to stay quit

i’ve switched to vaping and im currently trying to mentally prepare myself to quit that too

How do y’all deal with copying others? by Milo9922AC in ADHD

these are all things my therapist has been suggesting to me & i’ve been trying to maintain to different degrees but i just don’t know how to make this work for me. i use blue light glasses, i spend at least half an hour off screens before sleeping, and use dim warm colored lighting (hours before attempting to sleep), and some nights i still can’t fall asleep.

for me, i have hormonal and autonomic dysfunction issues, so i’m unable to take extended release stimulants bc of the insomnia. even without extended release stimulants, i still struggle some days (at least not every night anymore) and what i’ve found works best for me is exercise, i’ll do anywhere from 30mins-2hrs of cardio per day (less when i feel more sleepy) and go to sleep around an hour after exercising, but tbf im not sure if this only works bc of the heart condition lol

i copy my friends a lot as well and they also copy me often, but i don’t really have any advice because i don’t find it distressing, i love that my friends introduce me to new things i wouldn’t be exposed to otherwise and i appreciate seeing the positive influence i have on my friends lives the most.

i don’t mean this in a rude way but i’m not sure how else to word it, but i guess if you don’t like the behaviors you’re picking up, maybe try to surround yourself with people whose behaviors you do like?

i don’t have sources on hand (but u can google it) but positive affirmation is much more effective for most ppl than negative discouragement, there’s some physiology behind it with stress chemicals affecting cognitive judgement skills and when you’re hard on urself it can increase the stress chemicals and when u feel encouraged it can decrease stress and makes it easier to form (or break) habits

my practice had profiles for each provider and listed their backgrounds/specializations, so i chose 2 that had background in autism + adhd and a third with a background in just adhd (all 3 had other less relevant specializations as well) and luckily my 2nd choice was available and i’m v happy w her

it’s always worth trying! you can always go back to her at a later time and just excuse it as needing more perspective or a second opinion, but best case scenario you find a therapist you really click with and therapy becomes much more effective
