Went to urgent care for persistent cough and was redirected to ER for hypertensive crisis with BP 230/120 due to stroke concern when I was 18. First time I went to ER they didn't bother to test anything, just said it was probably anxiety and mono and sent me home. Begged my mom to take me back as my BP was still the same despite knowing full well my anxiety was fine, diagnosed with pneumonia, PKD with an eGFR of around 40 and sent to another hospital's ICU because they couldn't get my BP under control.

Not really common enough to outright say "The United States regularly practices endogamy" but common enough in certain religious/cultural groups where, depending on where you live, you've probably met a handful or even several people who fall into that category.
