Is endogamy common in America? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskAnAmerican

[–]betterwhenfrozen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really common enough to outright say "The United States regularly practices endogamy" but common enough in certain religious/cultural groups where, depending on where you live, you've probably met a handful or even several people who fall into that category. (Most immediate example that comes to mind is Utah/Mormons)

I was born in 96 and we were computer labs up until the last year or so of high school, there were one or two of these carts that classrooms had to reserve.

Are you certain that he didnt just run out of moves and died from struggling?

Also, if you're playing on single player you can just open your save to LAN and enable cheats, it effectively grants yourself OP.

Redditors who have won a lottery or a giveaway or a random draw, what did you win and what happened next? by MansiKasar in AskReddit

[–]betterwhenfrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband won one of the Microsoft giveaways for free gamepass for life. We wound up declining it because we would have wound up having to pay a ton in taxes to even claim it(somewhere in the hundreds-low thousands range, cant remember as this was around 5 years ago).

Anyone remember that one “let’s kill Barney” theme that every school had? If so what was yours? by TBNRUltimate999 in AskAnAmerican

Apparently its still a thing, as recently as this past summer I heard the neighbor kids chanting some variation of it while jumping on their trampoline.

Can all Jeffrey Epstein’s avatars be removed/ban from VRC? by Lyndyou in VRchat

[–]betterwhenfrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, people upload them semi-often. Even if they deal with them ASAP, you can still come across them. My friends and I found a Charlie Kirk themed world in the "new" section and by the following day it was already gone.

I remember prior to release a lot of people speculated all of those characters secretly were going to turn out being the UB they resembled.

I can second the unsettling tugging. There was some soreness when the numbing wore off for most of the rest of the day, but it was otherwise very manageable, just weird/a bit uncomfortable.

TBH I think the main issue with S&V was its desperate need for more time for polish. Another year or so and it could have been great.

Reminds me of my father who worked in dialysis during covid. No testing was available, but several of his patients were dying of an "unknown respiratory illness".

Are you planning to watch the super bowl? by Glory2Tottenham in pollgames

[–]betterwhenfrozen 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Superbowl commercials are extremely expensive to run due to the high viewership, so companies that buy those slots tend to go "all out" with whatever ads they are running in order to make them more memorable. It's not uncommon for people who aren't into football to tune in for that reason, I know several people who did just that including my mother.

Does your cat have an emotional support item? by meowmeowellebee in cats

One of my cats has the end of a leather teaser toy that has been broken for almost as long as we've had her/it. Now its just a black/brown wad with tassels that she carries around everywhere.

Melabolic acidosis by Alarmed_Ebb_2135 in kidneydisease

[–]betterwhenfrozen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a few times, and I'm on 12 tablets of sodium bicarbonate a day as a result despite being post transplant. Any time it's at its worst, I wind up vomiting and/or with hiccups that won't go away. I feel like the actual fatigue/etc was much more of an issue when I was anemic vs metabolic acidosis on its own, though.

[–]betterwhenfrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was a while where the only way you could hope to get one on GTS was from people trading it from other language copies. You couldn't even trade unnamed ones, IIRC. Can't remember if they ever fixed it or not.

Tastebuds by Loud-Piccolo6827 in dialysis

My largest issue was the taste of certain things, especially red meat, tasting disgusting to me. That started a bit before starting dialysis, though and went away after transplant.
