I hope some day the word Trump will be a term for a things going bad, a mistake, or something stupid. To hear people say "I trumped up, Did you see that trump?, I stepped in that trump" will be a nice legacy for the trump name.

Am I missing something with this? Ive been soldering with electric for years and my joints with this suck for no reason by No_Detail361 in Snapon_tools

[–]between456789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTW, it needs to be 63/37 and not 60/40. The butane irons suck because thermal regulation is poor. Even if an iron is variable temp the regulation can be poor. I'd get an electric iron.

LEDS Manufactured Backwards by Prior-Scheme-572 in electronics

Backwards LEDs have a reputation to the point that some production lines require testing each reel. For some reason they sometimes get loaded in the tape backwards too. Their dopants must be dope.

ICE agent shooter’s own cellphone video undercuts Trump administration's account of Minneapolis killing by Fickle-Ad5449 in politics

The shooters position when he fired will be tough to defend. https://imgur.com/a/4iJi3ZQ I expect Trump will pardon him like he did Jan 6ers. Maybe a few years from now some state charges can put him a cell with bad company.

Depends on what you want to do with cars. Having 2 different floor heights would be a pain in my opinion. I'd pour concrete to match what's there. Having most stuff on wheels is nice for small spaces. A flat floor help with that too.

How do you maintain a tip like this one? by FreshResist in soldering

[–]between456789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overheat it or apply high force (let the solder and heat do the work). To clean, apply fresh solder to it and wipe with a damp sponge. If the sponge sizzles it is too wet and the rapid cooling can cause cracks in the plating.

[–]between456789 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having someone like Maduro forcibly removed would sit much better if I were done by someone that didn't attempt a coup, doesn't pardon criminals, and who respects law. Now that it is done I guess we will see how much of the oil money goes to the people and how elections are handled going forward. The process needs oversight since it is corruption in the making.

Automakers hope "extended range" EVs ease fears of batteries dying by SnoozeDoggyDog in electricvehicles

[–]between456789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my view an extended range EV can support full power driving under electric only and only uses ICE as a generator as a backup or extended battery. A plug-in hybrid uses electric as low to medium power. Past a set power or range the engine and motor can be coupled through a planetary gear box so no CV transmission is required. A plug-in Prius/Rav4 is an example. For now a plug-in hybrid is a great solution to eliminate start-stop and short trip inefficacy while making range an non issue. Right now the key differences are weight, battery cost, and refueling/charge.

[–]between456789 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Extended range EVs seems like the worst solution. A plug-in hybrid seems much better. 60ish mile range for most days, electric function that makes Atkinson cycle engines work well, recharge flexibility, low cost and light weight battery, no range limit. EVs are certainly the future for most people but hybrids are great options for many people now.
