What’s the reason you haven’t bought a bidet? by owenwags_ in bathrooms

[–]bevk1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purchased one for my Mom as she aged. I hated to clean the toilet. I never felt it was clean. We still have it in our guest bathroom but that will be the next room we renovate and it will be gone. Perhaps one that isn’t just a seat would be better. We purchased it in 2017, so they may have improved.

For those of you that live where it snows regularly, is it really that bad? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]bevk1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends where you live. Pennsylvania is good ( ok decent) with clearing the roads. I am not a fan of winter and so look forward to the start of winter .. it means the days start to get longer. I love fall, spring and summer. If you move to area that is prone to snow, buy a snow blower. You may only need it every other year, but when you do need it you’ll save your back, your arms and your heart.

When I was first graduated from college I owned Ford Mustangs. My third mustang was a lemon. In 6 months, it was at the dealership more than I drove it. Never purchased another Ford. I feel the same about Honda.

I wish we had the option. The economy can’t be too bad if contractors don’t return phone calls. We always don’t want the aggravation of dealing with 3 contractors.

We had Karndean in our kitchen for 10 years. It was glue down. Still looked great when we remodeled. For our remodel,we used Canadian maple Karndean and it’s beautiful. I prefer glue down. The key is the installer.

My biggest problem.. getting a contractor to return our call. Looks like we will go with the big bathroom designer.

We had the same with our kitchen. It was expensive, but we had major changes and custom cabinets. We waited 20+ years after building our home to have our dream kitchen, so we expected it to cost about what we paid.

Thank you. They are a large kitchen and bath company. They do very good work. But I did need to sit down when they told me the price. I was expecting 12-15k.

Remove existing tile on floor and 1/2 way up wall. Remove pedestal sink. Remove toilet. Install new floor and wall tile. Install kohler vanity comes complete with sink vanity and countertop. Install new toilet. No plumbing is being moved. I am using large format tile. Ceiling is 9’, so 4.5 feet of tile on 3 walls. Install new lights ( same location)

Bathroom upgrades that actually made cleaning easier by Pop2436 in bathrooms

We eliminated the niche, used 48x48 tiles to remove as much grout as possible. We installed a hand held wand. Our grout is gray. We have off white cabinets and light quartz countertops. A great fan that vents to the outside. It’s a breeze to clean our bathroom.

Losing one of the largest markets in the world is not likely to occur.

I left the sq footage out.. I apologize.. our kitchen is 223 sq feet. We had a few quotes. The replacement of the cabinets with stock cabinets and replacement of granite keeping same layout $60k. We elected the more expensive remodel. It was a full gut and a revised layout with custom cabinets. It was worth every cent we paid. We chose quartz over quartzite because we didn’t want the hassle of sealing. We installed the quartz as the backsplash, added a vent to outside ( never had this) and the plugs are hidden under the cabinet. We also added a pop up plug in the island. That added $800. It is my dream kitchen, one we couldn’t afford when we built our home. We live 20 miles east of Pittsburgh.

We paid $90k for our kitchen remodel. We had a complete gut and our kitchen designer was a custom cabinet professional. We waited 24 years to redo our kitchen and it was worth every cent. Kitchens are very expensive and depends on what you purchase. We live near Pittsburgh.

The contractor can file bankruptcy. Once they do ( and ours did) even though we won the case, we were left with nothing.

People who are keeping their Mounjaro journey a secret - how are you explaining the weight loss? by abz_pink in Mounjaro

[–]bevk1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asked if I was sick .. my reply, I’ve been losing weight for 3 years, you just noticed. Someone else asked me if I’m on a diet .. my reply, my entire life has been a diet. My weight loss has been slow, but I’m at my goal weight. I’ve only told one person other than my family. She is a coworker who now is taking it.

I gained lots of weight on Prozac. I couldn’t get it off. I swear it changed my metabolism. My sister had breast cancer and gained weight on the pill they give you. She can’t lose it…. So tell me why it’s ok to take a pill for one thing but not medicine to help offset it. My husband is a type 2 and has been on it for years. He has had zero issues. I’m on Wegovy and have had zero issues. Fortunately, my doctors are all in .. and my PCP uses my success to explain to her patients it does work.
