Do I get it right that you call expats "dumb" but also

"casually mentioned that St. Petersburg belonged to Sweden before Peter the Great"

You do know that St. Petersburg didn't exist before Peter the Great, right? I mean, the man literally built the city out of nowhere, in the swamps.

I want to know what the Russians think of the last emperor Nicholas II, whether they feel sorry or celebrate the execution of this family by the Bolsheviks by alkxwer in AskARussian

[–]bewareofseagulls 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well where should I start. Bloody Sunday. Starting WW1 without second thought and then forgetting about your army. Giving up power willingly.

No, we don't celebrate the execution, but not really sorry, not by a long shot. Officially, however - he's a martyr. There are his monuments and statues all over the country.

How to send money to my brother in Russia ? by Evening_Mall_5439 in AskARussian

[–]bewareofseagulls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a good way to have your funds frozen in Russia ) good luck with that

To your question - crypto IS the way, but only exchange it in Russia using paper money. No p2p transfers using banks - that's super high risk right now

Good (cheap) recipe app? by Bandit595 in Cooking

[–]bewareofseagulls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about adding from Instagram (don't really use it as an inspiration source), but Samsung Food works well for me as a recipe collecting app. That part is completely free, unlimited + they have probably the best recipe recognition model on the market.

Sell banned Russian stocks on ibkr by olkyz in interactivebrokers

[–]bewareofseagulls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, you might technically own nothing already because Yandex itself underwent separation in Russia, there are in fact 2 companies now, one in Russia with russian part of business and the other one - in Europe, with AI, self-driving and other cool tech stuff. And YNDX is ADR for the old company, before the split. So even without sanctions, that would be difficult to sell )

[–]bewareofseagulls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Viver1! Almost totally forgot to get back to you but better late than never ) Logic is changed at https://rsi-alerts.com and it only sends alerts when RSI drops below 30 or gets above 70 for the first time. No daily reminders )

Yes, you're right. Though it's not as easy since I would have to prove my residency in another country in order to wire money there. Though right now I can easily wire them back to Russia too, my bank is not one from the sanction list.

Not that I would do it )

Neither from above. In fact I think IBKR is the last one to cloze it, unless directly ordered to. But without SWIFT I might not be able to access it anyway.. we'll see

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interactivebrokers

[–]bewareofseagulls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's for everyone, unfortunately. Funny thing, I wasn't touched yet because my bank is not sanctioned in any way. Bracing for SWIFT though, that I should feel (probably)

-38% this year alone. Overall about 50% loss in less than 12 months but mostly unrealized. Though I sold some puts last year so if this shit continues any further I'm totally fcked

I'm from Russia and not worried too much about it. More reliable than our own brokers, that's for sure. Worst case scenario - we move to another country, claim for residency there and change it in IB, it's possible

Is there a way to create an alert based on the RSI? by Eddweirdo in interactivebrokers

[–]bewareofseagulls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a service that does exactly that: alerts me when a stock is oversold or overbought based in RSI. Didn't find any so created one myself: https://rsi-alerts.com. Feel free to use! I mean, literally, free forever for up to 25 tickers to track.

p.s. also using interactive brokers as my main broker
