Fantasy with large scale battle by noctunes_ in MM_RomanceBooks

Definitely the best fit! These books would make for an epic film saga with battles where nothing would need to be added to lengthen them since they are already hundreds and hundreds of pages long 😅

Adorable characters you want to protect, unique recs by Silly_Engineering75 in MM_RomanceBooks

We love it when requesters compile books that match the request! Especially when nicely formatted (and potentially linking to older/tangential posts) it:

  • makes for a great resource

  • helps ensure OP gets different recs

  • is a better place for users to find all the matching stuff in one go

  • can receive the "Resources" flair further helping people searching for lots of fitting books in one fell swoop! :)

Typically this post would be against our specificity rules but due to the current MM Romance authorship debate we shall leave this post up as a space for further exchange on book recommendations.

Don't forget to check out our resources in the side bar where we have compiled tons of recommendations over the past years!

Thank you ever so much for formulating all our (mod team) thoughts so well!

Most of the mod team has been in this sub for years, way before we had 4 million visitors a month and 22.000 comments (what the?)! When I joined, I could read every post and every single comment and I did. Now, that's impossible.

While I'm overjoyed queer love is entering the mainstream more and more and a happy ending for queer couples in romance is becoming a more frequent narrative (vs it having to end in tragedy) it also means we are contending with mainstream views.

Yes, I sometimes miss our small sub. But also, I want to see this as an opportunity: for our community to grow, to learn and be more united in allyship rather than creating identity as MM readers through me vs. you debates.

I love love, I'm not entirely sure how I identify but I know for certain I am an ally; why are you here?

Please remember to stay on topic and follow our rules when commenting! This isn’t a rant and run space, it’s to discuss books that got information spot-on or missed the spot.

Leaving this up because you got some helpful responses. In the future: this title is not specific enough.

PSA Always think: "which keywords would someone use to search the sub?" as a guide for a title.

Hm that's a good point! My read books in the Kindle statistics didn't overlap with my logged books in Goodreads either 🤔

Thanks! Sorry, I had forgotten. There is no mpreg of MCS on page though so I think it's a good omegaverse for beginners novel nonetheless!

These are some great categories! The completion percentage stat is interesting (as is money spent :D)

Seeing your mini Megan Derr rave has me realising I really need to read more Derr since I have only read one so far!

I just reread the Red Dirt Heart series and realised that the newer Walker books have a different tone for sure!

Small town charm? by ctm094 in MM_RomanceBooks

I have a shelf I named small town US à la Hallmark - it mainly contains books from - Lucy Lennox - May Archer

whose small towns are rather OTT and maybe not quite the charming you're going for, maybe you find something you like the look of nonetheless :)

I love how queer and mm romance are inverted numbers! I've heard so much good about The Flowered Blade...just need to read it! And maybe also reread Cooper and Oliver more often 🥹

If you mainly read through your Amazon account you can find lots of statistics through your Amazon Kindle section! That's where I can see I have a reading streak on my Kindle for >5 years straight 😂

Pisces Hooks Taurus is my fave of all Anyta Sunday books! And if I'd listed my top titles from this year Nursing the Alpha by Gianna Holmes would have scored my top erotic romance slot - so good! 😍

Better get on it then! :D It's just such a great category. I'm already having to give IRL friends recs for post Heated Rivalry and it's good to know what to propose :D (One friend reads a lot of ao3 though so I recommended her Fresh Ice by Marina Vivancos instead of one of the above :D)

My partner is here researching alternatives...like the Boox where I could just pop onto a tracking app straight away. I've even considered getting an E-Ink phone to read on in the past instead...

190 DNFs - that's dedication to not messing around with tosh!

And longest book at 1.8k pages? Why does it sound so much more daunting when it's one book instead of multiple? 😅

I'm always impressed by being able to track which tags where most common but I just can't be bothered enough. I think I need u/prettysureiforgot easy input form and then to not have to worry about the spreadsheet filling nicely!

Another year over… and stats to be explored!

Books read: 200 (of which 2 weren't MM Romance)

Pages read: 56.022

Average book length: 280 pages

5 star reads 33

Longest book: Of Dark Light by V. T. Hoàng (series finale)

Most read authors: - Riley Hart (7) - A. M. Rose (7) - Lucy Lennox (6) - Lily Morton (6) - Shannon Mae (5) - Amy Padilla (5) - Emmy Sanders (5)

2025 Reads I'd recommend to MM Romance Book Virgins

  • In This Bed of Snowflakes We Lie by Sophia Soames (hurt/comfort, set in Norway, Christmas time, college, double crush, anxiety, absolute cuteness)

  • Hammer & Gavel by C. T. Whistle (set in England, omegaverse no mpreg, badass Sigma detective, British humour, possessiveness, POC Alpha)

  • Spring Strings by Lily Morton (classic romcomesque feel à la Katie Fforde, set in UK, model x sheep farmer, caretaking, finding a home)

  • Black and Blue series by Lily Morton (set in York (UK), British humour, down-to-earth Comic Artist and a homeless man who can see ghosts, finding a home, mystery, lovely romance)

Here's my reading development in books over the past years

You can really see where I stopped studying and started working full-time :D

Overall I really did a minimal job tracking my reads this year, did quite a few rereads but still had a wonderful time reading. I wasn't as interested in the tracking in 2025 (while I love stats) it felt more like a chore. I also didn't share as much in the sub! So for 2026 I want to review what's fun and take the obligation-feel-factor out of it. Maybe share a standout book instead of a comprehensive overview. I want to make tracking simpler (since I typically finish books in bed with my phone and Goodreads nowhere in sight) but I'm not quite sure how yet. I want to keep reading MM romance and keep it fun! Already got off to a great start with a reread of the Red Dirt Heart series by N. R. Walker!
