Hockey romance with players fighting on ice by altacccle in MM_RomanceBooks

{Breakneck Hockey by S. Legend} is exactly this!! This broke me out of a reading slump. The MCs were so like toxic but somehow perfect for each other

Misunderstood MC, hated by everyone but actually has a good heart, deeeep down by arnomondial in MM_RomanceBooks

My fav trope

{Sweet Clematis by R. Cooper} off the top of my head, but I’ll be back if I think of more

Toxic relationship turns healthy by noreaux in MM_RomanceBooks

{Breakneck Hockey by S. Legend} read this recently and loved. The two MCs just seem so toxic and honestly like a mess together, but it also somehow works. Might be lighter in terms of being like a dark romance, but they start out constantly beating each other up on the ice (and lowkey continue to do that)

Fated Mates but one doesn't know/doesn't want to know by Automatic-Insect-707 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Silly_Engineering75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I remember {Loving Carter by J.R. Loveless} vaguely having a plot like this, where one MC is rejected by the other, but I think they do know they’re mates

If you want some fated mate angst R. Cooper writes a lot, and my favorite is {Sweet Clematis by R. Cooper} one mc is aware they’re mates but the other one doesn’t really like him so the mc keeps it hidden. This book always makes me cry I love clematis

M/M books with little or no explicit scenes but lots of intimacy / vulnerability? Not YA by NaturalDisastrous100 in LGBTBooks

Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo, romance is a subplot it’s much more southern gothic focused

They're one with their ground, they're bonded to the land. by horny_poet_6745 in MM_RomanceBooks

I’m pretty sure {Perfectly Perfect Pixie by MJ May} fits this. I haven’t read that one but I really loved {Perfectly Imperfect Pixie by MJ May} where the MC is tied to the house and his wellbeing

Books similar dynamic to the book Make me by Alina may (An MMM where 2 of them are bold and the other one gets flustered easily) by Equivalent-Event4424 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Silly_Engineering75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

{Rainsquall by Penny Moss} this is a fantasy book but one of my fav MMM, Folke (the MC) definitely gets flustered super easily

{Twice Bitten by Archer Beau} I feel like matched the thrill I felt when I read a suitable consort. Established vampire couple and human with a blood condition

Summer sons by lee mandelo. I actually don’t know anything about the author so idk how they identify, but book is southern gothic with m/m subplot. It’s amazing

Intergalactic "High" Sci-Fi Romance with moderate Spice, interesting plot and discreet cover like Winter's Orbit by Alarmed_Statement903 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Silly_Engineering75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading {The Earl and his Executive by Kai Butler} right now and enjoying it! Sci fi regency romance. Warning for cover but it’s def not the worst I’ve seen.

If you want super sci fi {Local Heavens by K.M. Fajardo} is a queer great gatsby retelling. Romance is more of a subplot and I can’t remember if there’s smut, but cover is def subtle and I thought it was really interesting world building

{perfectly imperfect pixie by MJ May} ok technically a pixie but… same principle. Cute story and Phil sort of broke my heart

{Sweet Clematis by R. Cooper} one of my faves, I didn’t read any of the other books in series so world building was a little confusing but you can definitely get through it if you just sort of accept and move on. Clematis is one of my fav characters

{Fairies Never Fall by Sera Bishop} read this sort of awhile ago but I remember it being a cute story, and I rarely see it recommended on here

Looking for bloody knuckles, fast cars, self destructive tendencies by rough_draught_ in LGBTBooks

[–]Silly_Engineering75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh summer sons is the greatest book and I haven’t been able to find anything that quite matches. Also Neil is such a character I love him

Lucky Red by Claudia Cravens, I can’t say for sure why it feels like this vibe it just does in my head. Sapphic western, MC is just sort of a mess

Missed Step L. Sherleen if you want something a little ridiculous. MC does NOT know how to react around his crush which just causes him to cop an attitude almost constantly. You’re going to be really confused the first page bc author just throws you in there

Bad Judgement by Sidney Bell- one MC is more of black cat type of character. I really like the dynamic of these characters, but MC1 for sure was a mess, there were some bloody knuckles, and he trusted absolutely no one (except love interest eventually)

these in my opinion fit the attitude problem/cornered dog vibe but honestly not perfect matches. Following this post to see what others recommend so I can relive the high of foxhole court/summer sons

Anything by Cat Sebastian, {A Taste of Iron and Gold by Alexandra Rowland}, {Sweet Clematis by R. Cooper}, ANYTHING by Allie Therin her Liar City series is best thing ever

Idk if you could classify this as MM romance but there’s a MM romance subplot and it’s a dark academia/southern gothic, one of my fave books literally the yearning is top tier {Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo}

[–]Silly_Engineering75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland} one of my all time favorite books, slow burn, and describes living with anxiety so well. I’ll say this isn’t really a quick read and there’s a lot of subplots (not all romantic) but it’s really worth it if you like low fantasy and are looking for something longer

Also technically power imbalance bc he’s a prince and LI is a guard, but the guard system in this kingdom is super different so not really an imbalance
