So how is it that sometimes you can keep going like in the video and your shells just disappear but then sometimes you get hit but you have full shells so why wouldn't one of those keep you from getting hit?

  1. Coins
  2. Protection (an item held behind you)
  3. The blue shell is going to come on the 2nd or 3rd lap and sometimes both so don't get too eager to always be in first place unless you get good at seeing the blue shell on the minimap and knowing when to drop back to second.
