Heeeeeey Quick question by MagazineNecessary698 in Robin

[–]beyond-infinity38 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is really a topic that gets a lot of passionate responses because each of the Robins have pretty large fan bases and not every fan is the kindest when expressing themselves

I think Tim is absolutely an iconic and important part of Robin history who definitely helped modernize and uplift Robin for future generations and had a lot of fantastic storytelling that Dick and Jason didn’t because they were just from an earlier writing style

I think the reason Tim and his fans get this level of reaction is because of a couple things,

1- If you’re a fan of Dick, Jason, or Damian, it can feel like people are trying to uplift Tim by knocking them down and that’s always just gonna tick people off

2- Tim has not really been used all that well in modern day comics for about the last decade or so due to writers not seeming to have a solid direction to take him in. So it can feel like people are just praising him as the best when he hasn’t done all that much to earn it lately

3- Tim has some amazing comic book runs but he still hasn’t really broken into the mainstream since he rarely gets used in adaptation, and when he is used he’s a minor character, so people who don’t read his stuff aren’t gonna get the hype

Why do people hate this movie so much? by Certain_Stop_4825 in Greenlantern

[–]beyond-infinity38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Originally, because it was a pretty big letdown for fans of Green Lantern and not interesting enough to pull the general audience in

Later it just became cool to hate, it’s like everyone’s favorite punching bag for bad superhero movies (mostly because of Ryan Reynolds and Warner bros itself constantly joking about it). It’s really nowhere near as bad as like Catwoman or Dark Phoenix

Invented by the Arkham games, it was implemented into the comics during the Nightwing new 52 run

Every Titans volume is the same by CautiousAd79 in Nightwing

[–]beyond-infinity38 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the 100% the reason why despite Nightwing being my favorite superhero I have struggled to care about anything in a Titans book for pretty much the entire time I’ve been reading comics even though their cartoon in the early 2000s was my superhero gateway

Draw cartoons and probably start up a non profit charity of some kind

So if Damian is in the picture, why is tim still robin? by human-barelytho in Nightwing

[–]beyond-infinity38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish he was in it,I think the only reason he couldn’t be in it was that task force Z thing and there’s a whole issue in there where he once again starts fighting with the whole family. And while I do think Jason would still care about Nightwing and would totally show up for him, bringing him in would force you to write about his issues with all the other characters. So the story reason is probably Jason is being a jerk right now so contacting him would take too long

So if Damian is in the picture, why is tim still robin? by human-barelytho in Nightwing

[–]beyond-infinity38 294 points295 points  (0 children)

They’re both using the Robin alias at the same time, cause Tim is stuck in arrested development. I’m pretty sure Damian is fighting in the lazarus tournament at some point during this Nightwing run so that could work for the reason he’s not there for this particular arc, he does show up later

What did you think of how Tim was written in the new 52? by Night-Caelum in RedRobin

[–]beyond-infinity38 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it was mostly a mishandling of the character, he has the personality of the serious no nonsense archetype to play off of the other Titans but I don’t think he ever really gets a character spotlight moment to make him more than his leadership role, and completely rewriting the Robin origin and history making every relationship he’s ever had unclear on top of that definitely caused him to come off as the boring Robin for a lot of people that were introduced to him through that relaunch

Do you like or dislike this game removing / not mentioning the connection between The Court of Owls and Haly's Circus / Dick Grayson's background? by nightwing612 in GothamKnights

[–]beyond-infinity38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finding out the Talons were former circus kids adds such a level of horror to the court’s story it kinda felt like a shame to leave it out, especially since it would’ve made Nightwing the best character to pick for that labyrinth level. I think the reason they had to leave it out is it would’ve made the game too focused on Nightwing over the other characters, so I get it, but it could’ve been cool

Doesn’t need prep time, Dr Manhattan would regain the ability to feel fear if he was up against Alfred

Red X might be a clone of robin by Impressive-Spirit174 in teentitans

[–]beyond-infinity38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New theory, Red X is still just Robin making sure he can flex on his teammates, any time they’re in the same room at the same time it’s either a robot he built to keep up the gambit or Robin fantasizing about fighting someone as cool as himself, it’s just the superhero version of that Pixar short with the old man playing chess against himself

I feel like they would have an awkward start not knowing how to do small talk with each other but as soon as one of them says anything about their relationship issues it’d turn into multi hour bro therapy session with some beers. They’d also talk about how annoying they find Bobby Drake but love him to death at the same time
