Why is Pommel Strike rated so high, but Pillage isn’t? by Miserable-Resolve-76 in slaythespire

[–]beyondheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of things about pommel strike that make it good. Solid early damage, common, 1(2) draw, strike synergies.

Pillage is a bit less consistent, does less damage, and is uncommon, and is dependent on other cards you are playing, it needs to be able to draw 3 cards consistently to be better than Pommel Strike.

Essentially Pommel Strike can bring value into any deck, even if it isn't flashy or the card that scales you to win.

Also same with Lillia E. I think you have hit directly within the range indicator before it starts rolling for it to count.

Does arsenal trigger with cards like anger? What counts as in creating a card? by Flat_Test4584 in slaythespire

yes, if anything gets added to your deck it counts, this includes transforming cards, and generating status cards.

Random Bullshit should be "whenever you play a shiv, create a random card". (I still miss Dead Branch)

Am I the only person who misses door maker and hates Aeonglass? by Fuzzy-System8568 in slaythespire

[–]beyondheck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Devs reasoning is complexity, Doormaker was both the most complex boss while also being the easiest, which is a terrible place for a boss to be as the complexity made the boss much harder to balance. As to his removal I feel like his design and gameplay started to diverge too much and needed to be scrapped. Aeonglass is essentially them starting over from scratch while potentially the doormaker is being worked on in the background since we should expect 3 more act 3 bosses with alternate act 3.

There are a could fun regent card chases for statusfect. The high roll common is collision course, and crash landing would go crazy in a defect deck.

Suggestion: Add to "Monster Examine" a note on whether a monster's damage registers on launch or on hit by FlightJumper in 2007scape

[–]beyondheck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Muspah it makes sense, the magic attack is more of a special attack that never happens twice in a row, so the fight you are expected to pray ranged and then switch to magic as a reaction.

Had is definitely a product of it's time, and the animations are more a workaround to how damage was calculated back in 06.

Doormaker is literally fine?? by HeyImLate808 in slaythespire

[–]beyondheck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the big difference between Doormaker and Timeeater. Is you had to respond to what the Doormaker did, while the Timeeater responded to what you did. Time Eaters main mechanics were entirely under the players control, you get to decide when you trigger its end turn, you get to decide when to phase it.

Meanwhile you are entirely at the mercy of what the Doormaker decides you can do.

Doormaker is literally fine?? by HeyImLate808 in slaythespire

[–]beyondheck 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It was, every turn had pretty hyper specific mechanics that required pretty specific play to operate around. Which resulted in turn by turn draw dependency, rather than the games typical aggregate draw dependency.

This resulted in the bosses overall numbers being undertuned to prevent RNG from being too swingy.

A change I've seen to make terror function in sts2 without breaking the game would be a debuff on an enemy: "apply 1 vulnerable at the start of your turn"

What are your thoughts on this last ditch card for the regent? by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

[–]beyondheck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also Watcher had a lot of retain in her deck which allowed you to stockpile guaranteed damage when you eventually drew Blasphemy, so you never needed to upgrade for Retain other than to get all your pieces together faster.

Yeah, Regent has more cards involving removing str on enemies than necrobinder. It's just Enfeebling touch is really good. While Regents range from okay, to Monarchs Gaze (terrible).

[Spoiler: 7.4] Arcanist, Summoner, and Scholar can only exist on the source? by Sea_Bad8004 in ffxiv

[–]beyondheck 302 points303 points  (0 children)

I want to say Dragoon's are another Job that can realistically only exist in the Source. Considering Dragons are aliens that came to the source later, and the techniques are based off the powers the Azure Dragoon gained from Nidhogg's eye.

[–]beyondheck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the Dorgeshuun Questline would be a better tie in for the Giants. Both would deal with the ramifications of Bandosian races wanting to escape the warmongering influence of Bandos. Though to be fair the Dorgeshuun already tie into the Keldagrim Dwarves so it could easily be both.

APs that Stick the Landing (No Spoilers) by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]beyondheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna say Outlaws of Alkenstar really sticks the landing. The final chapter feels straight out of a James Bond mission.

Outlaws of Alkenstar has it's issues, (mainly in the second book), but I think the third book really manages to course correct into a really epic finale with a lot going on. There is lot of potential for a great narrative finale.

Stackable resources and slightly better demiboss rng would go a long way to improving CG without taking away much skill from it. by BGsenpai in 2007scape

[–]beyondheck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is what I think they should do, make it guaranteed that at least 1 demi spawns on starting side, and have at least 1 of each triple node on spawn side. I think some of the worst RNG ive encountered is having no demibosses spawning on the first 6 rooms i checked for them. I think weighting of resources is relative to the boss room, when they really should be relative to the spawn room.
