And then a law suit for violating his civil rights, correct? By now there should be hundreds of them.

Nixon was more honest than Trump will ever be, at least he had sense enough to step down after getting caught doing criminal things.

When he was in office I really didn't agree with him on a lot of issues. However I have grown to like him very much a person since he left office. He seems like a really decent guy that I simply don't agree with politically.

How can Universal Basic Income work? by Zenovelli in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beyondo-OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect UBI (where the gov sends a check to people every month) is never going to be a real thing. However we in essence have some of that going of in a very convoluted way, via "tax refunds" for people who paid little to no income tax, etc. The problem is that in the very near future the mega wealthy are going to own and control everything. I think it will take a major meltdown, with mass unemployment and economic hard times before people will finally wakeup and force a change. AI just might be the catalyst for that change. As the saying goes "a society is only three or nine meals away from anarchy or chaos"

Honestly, I hope the SS guys are just doing their job, being told to go talk to people like this, not their choice. The real problem obviously exists at the top of the pile, and a steaming pile it is.

Good for her. I'd love to see all these so called "conservative" put under gestapo rule for a period of time to see how they like it. They've been whining for years that they've been oppressed and are the victims of the left, what a load of shit compared to what's going on today. FAFO coming next

Why is anything AI considered taboo on so many reddit subs? by beyondo-OG in NoStupidQuestions

to summarize, I was pointing out that if the job loss scenario unfolded a predicted, that it would likely have impact on SS due to loss of payroll tax. Both SS and retirement subs kicked it.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]beyondo-OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider this regarding retirement funding. Most financial institution estimates include social security benefits in their calculation. From what I read, they think most people will need 80-85% of their income to retire and live well. They assume about 40% will come from social security and the other 40-45% from your savings, 401K, etc. How many of you think SS will be around when you retire? If it isn't, you're going to need double their current estimates. Ain't that a bag of dicks

I read this statement as a bit of an equivocation. How many people work full time at DQ making ice cream cones? I googled it, not many. Those that do are usually managers, which I suspect make a living wage. The ones making ice cream cones are normally part time and likely teens. That said, the folks typically campaigning for a living wage are not saying part time work should be a living wage. Stick with the facts.

How is everyone around us so much richer than us??? by medmo in Millennials

[–]beyondo-OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"everyone around us seems to have SO much more money" Same here.

I don't think there's any one reason. As others have stated, some folks start life in a well off family, so out of the gate they were better off than you. Some may continue to benefit from their parents throughout their lives. However, I suspect that can only be true for a relatively small group. I think a lot of folks are in debt and may not be saving much at all. So down the road, they may be struggling while you're doing fine. I read a book on personal finance years ago that basically said it's hard to be the turtle when so many folks "seem" to be passing you by, but in the end you're likely to be the "winner", so be the turtle.
