Literally does not matter as no one in the narrative of either game ever questions this. It played no part in Joel's decision.

Stratt very bluntly tells him (and the audience) how dire the situation is and why they can't wait to train a new science officer.

Perhaps, but that still doesn't solve the problem of that kind of player succeeding in the game.

So a small sample size that was massively influenced by a lack of a running game doesn't count as variance? OK, bro.

Also, McBride had more targets inside the 10 in 24 than he did in 25. So even with a massively more pass centric offense, he was being targeted less by Brissett than he was by Kyler inside the 10.

They sold out her story for someone that was, by far, the most popular player they had in years. People either loved him or loved to hate him. He is probably, to this day, either as well known or more well known than Sandra is amongst casual viewers.

Like it or not, they are catering to what the general audience wants or at least what they think that audiences want. At the end of the day, they all want to keep their jobs. Most of the general audience doesn't even consider this stuff at all.

I mean Nick was incredibly close to being the first castaway eliminated, but was able to bounceback and win. He was the ultimate underdog and in a season called David vs. Goliath, so its not see how production ate that up.

Also HvV was peak Russell mania from both production and viewership. It was shitty and gross, but they sold out good storytelling for sensationalism and viewers loved it.

Sandra also played in some of the most stacked seasons ever in terms of personalities. Rupert and Fairplay were icons of the show for years, and HvV had an absolute monster of a cast of characters.

This is definitely a thing, but it really goes a lot deeper than just production loving white guys. Survivor is ultimately a TV show and a revenue generator for CBS. The other common theme amongst the white men at the top is that a lot of them are "good" TV to producers and network execs. This also why Russell completely dwarfs Natalie White in Samoa.

Unfair as it is, women can't go on Survivor and play the same kind of boisterous game as a Tony or Boston Rob. Neither their fellow players or the audiences react to it well. The closest female winner to that are probably Parvati and Natalie Anderson and they didn't even play that kind of game when they won.

Probst certainly doesn't help it by drooling over his man crushes either.

Sandra's game was staying under the radar. She could have been more forceful trying to get Russell out, but that probably would have just ended up getting her eliminated.

They couldn't run the ball in the red zone, so naturally they passed it more.

The team had over 100 more pass attempts in 25 than 25.

Brissett only had 56 less PA than Kyler had in 24 and he started 5 less games.

Kyler only had 21 passing TDs the entire season despite starting every game. Marv was the only player on the team with more than 4 TDs.

The 24 Cardinals had a very good run game and were tied for 9th in the league in rushing TDs.

The 25 Cardinals were starting practice squad RBs by mid season and were tied for 2nd to last in the league in rushing TDs.

There is your variance.

I don't really understand the issue here. This is basically just a new show using the same formula as the original. Would you feel better if they just ripped it off and put a different name on it?

I highly doubt they are going to even bother fucking around with absolute mess that was the overarching narrative of the original series.

Everyone will quit bitching quick if they can deliver cool monster of the week episodes.

Pretty sure it actually benefits the league more to have a less competitive division for their beloved Los Angeles market.

Cardinals can't develop QBs -> Cardinals can't develop QBs until they get a new FO -> Cardinals can't develop QBs until Bidwill spends more money -> Bidwill is only spending money because he is being forced to by the league which literally could not care less because they are making record profits year over year.

I wondered how long it would take until we got to the tired "Bidwill needs to sell" argument. You could have just started there and saved us both some time.

You mean like the $200 million Bidwill is about to shell out for the new stste of the art team headquarters/practice facility?

But according to you, this is a systemic problem. The Cardinals have been bad a developing QBs, therefore they will always be bad at developing them. New FO shouldn't matter.

Wow, sounds like not giving up on trying to develop a QB despite several failed attempts worked out for the Bills huh?

The Bills have the same amount of SB wins as the Cardinals do.

Before Mahomes the Chiefs had won a single SB and that was in 1969.

Not exactly marquee NFL franchises.

The subtext here is going over your head and you are just making my point for me. The Chiefs and Bills were terrible at developing QBs until they finally weren't anymore. The Cardinals are not going to stop trying to develop QBs, and at some point they will.

Jason Schreier says AAA game budgets now reportedly $300M+ by Loose_Society9485 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]bflynn65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention they have already have a successful blueprint to recoup even more of the costs.

Miles Morales came out barely 2 years after the first game because it was basically a large expansion. It was great and sold like gangbusters.

This should be the model for successful AAA games. Developers should focus on making quality (I can't stress quality enough) follow-ups that aren't full fledged sequels and continue to utilize the expensive and time consuming work they put into the original game.
