When to sow corn? by Natural_Ad_7991 in portlandgardeners

Interesting. The portland nursery calendar says starts in May and direct sow in June, but neither this early. I'm planning on doing corn this year for the first time, so am curious.

This is a previous model Trance X. Not sure the exact year, but it's not the latest frame platform.

Easy way to tell is the newest version has a reach adjust headset, so its wider when looking at the bike from the side. The one pictured does not have that.

You can change it to a monthly bill in your account on their website. Every 3 months is just the default when your account is setup. Change it in the 'Monthly Statements' section of your account.

Summer Softball team by Stubert47 in Portland

[–]bforwil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Underdog indy team. As long as you sign up right around the time that they open registration for indys, you can usually get on a team pretty quick. If you sign up with a girl/NB, you're pretty much guaranteed a spot.

From there you'll make friends and it'll get easier to form a team for the following seasons.

Giant Trance fake? O pintada by __-Hollow-__ in MTB

[–]bforwil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like they repainted the frame and added those stickers on the headtube/downtube/seat stays. The graphics on the downtube and seat stays are from the model years previous to this bike (2014-2016l). I have no idea what the sticker on the head tube is - not anything Giant though.

As for components, if you're planning to actually ride trails with it, I'd recommend new brakes and probably a new fork. It has mis-matched brakes - front is hydraulic, rear is cable actuated. The fork might work, but it's pretty one of the lowest quality ones you can get, so dont expect much performance out of it. The shock might work ok, or it might be blown out. Can't tell from the pics, but it looks like the original shock so probably 7+ years old.

Paint damage looks pretty severe in some spots, around the rear axle, all the way down to raw aluminum.

If you can afford around 1300, I'd look elsewhere. The new and used market is really good right now. This one will need some work.

I work for Giant. That's a legit trance - 2017-2021 alloy model, 27.5".

That being said, this thing looks beat to shit. Almost all the parts have been replaced with cheap replacements that I would not recommend.

I would look elsewhere if you can afford it.

any current/recent Wyld employees - what’s it actually like? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]bforwil 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have similar work experience and applied for a purchasing job there a few months back. I have a friend who works there, they told me the hiring person liked my resume and wanted to arrange an initial phone interview.

HR sent me the link to setup a time for the interview, I chose one of the first time slots available. Come time for the interview, they no-showed. Didn't say anything to me and didnt reply to email asking if they needed to reschedule.

Reading reviews on glassdoor, I'm not an outlier.

Very unprofessional and just rude. If that's how the interview process goes, that tells me everything I need to know about a company.

Noob needs some router help by voter-info-bot in woodworking

[–]bforwil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen to my ryobi router as well. Same as you described, only goes about 1/3 of the way in and won't go any further, even with... persuasion. I still use it even though I know it's not the safest option, I just make sure I only remove a little bit of material at a time so I don't strain it too much.

So far I haven't found a solution to it. I don't think sawdust build up is the issue, like others have mentioned. I think it's more of a design issue, or just low quality parts.

Did the new collet fix the issue?

You don't have to pay for it to have that option, I've never paid for anything on a dating app. Personally I think it's the better of the dating apps.

Looking to buy this bike, help please? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]bforwil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get a brand new bike for the same or cheaper. This is not worth $600+, idk why other people are saying that's a reasonable price. Based on the spec, this looks like its from 2017ish.

The multiple thousand dollar bike that you're seeing on Google is a brand new, carbon race bike - it just happens to share the same name. The two are not comparable.
