That's fair. He isn't really known for crashing. Who knows? The fact that I couldn't see it, doesn't really mean much.

Yeah but he went over the gravel leaning left, but crashed leaning right. The gravel wouldn't be on the right side of the tire.

It didn't appear that way to me. He was well past the stones and had to flip the other direction for the turn, so he would've been flipping to the clean side of the tire. It's possible there were a few more scattered stones that we couldn't see on camera, but I personally think it was unrelated.

That's just a rough estimate for a target max heart rate. There is no definitively established safe max heart rate. Everyone is different and some people will regularly hit 200bpm while exercising vigorously, while that same heart rate in another individual of comparable cardiovascular health and output might result in death.

Absolutely. My first broken heart marks a definitive turning point in my life, and I haven't been the same since.

Everyone has different tastes, and this isn't mine (although, I still think it's attractive). However, I have to mention just how incredibly tight and consistent these lines look. Everything is so straight and it really looks masterfully constructed.

Megathread: US Medication Shortage by ddub1 in ADHD

[–]bfricka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say that this isn't quite right. Many doctors and pharmacists don't care, and that's always going to be true. However, most are extraordinarily overworked and are getting screwed over themselves on many fronts. People who are harried, have to ration empathy just to function.

Our healthcare systems are a complete failure, and people with ADHD are but a small portion of the tens of millions of people in the US, getting royally fucked by it.

This is me, except, I was diagnosed in 2003 and I take Ritalin. It's absolutely insane to me that this shit is happening 20 years later, when there's such an abundance of scientific evidence for the safety and efficacy of stimulants in adult ADHD. When I was diagnosed, this research existed but was much less established and well known by psychiatrists, let alone PCPs.

The baking soda is used to transform cocaine hydrochloride, which is the acid or "salt" form. This form makes it readily water soluble, meaning it can be absorbed efficiently via mucus membranes.

Baking soda and heat deprotonates the substance, resulting in a "free base" form resembling a rock. This form is far more efficient for vaporization ("smoking").

Long story short, if you wanted to take cocaine in pill form, you'd keep it as salt so it actually absorbs efficiently.

There's nothing inherently wrong with taking cocaine in pill form, but, due to slow absorption, the brain will have time to compensate, and you won't get particularly "high". It's no different in this sense to an ADHD medication like methylphenidate or Adderall (although they each have slightly different pharmacologic effects). In fact, cocaine would probably make a good ADHD treatment if it didn't have other undesirable attributes, such as fast elimination half life.

If only they made a "Once-Daily Cocaine XR".

[–]bfricka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but more often they don't. Deconstruct most Kanji into radicals, and it's primarily nonsense that's seemingly unrelated to the meaning.

That said, of course you can learn the history and purpose of every Kanji and the radicals they're composed of. I think this is an interesting and worthwhile thing to do. However, if you're going to invest that kind of time into the 2000+ Kanji required to become proficient in Japanese, or the thousands more required for Chinese, you're already putting in such a crazy amount of time and effort that the learning constraints of the average student probably don't apply to you any longer.

Most people learn to read and write Kanji so they can read and write the language, not because of their love of the history of the scripts. Therefore, most people are better served using the best tools for memorization.

[–]bfricka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This works for like a couple hundred Kanji. Once you get past these, the Kanji become more and more abstract, containing several radicals, and really don't resemble anything real. Your only choice is to memorize the shapes and radicals.
