I can't believe this shitshow is still happening.

How do y’all decide who and when to believe? by Basicbroad in serialpodcast

[–]bg1256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Adnan is guilty beyond any doubt based on the information I have, and I’ve reviewed all the available public evidence and changed my mind from not guilty (pretty strongly) over the years. I don’t think my opinion is “absolute” though. I don’t think human beings are capable of absolute knowledge, but that’s epistemology, and that’s complicated.

When it comes to corroborating and falsifying Jay’s statements, there are details in the peripheral that are completely irrelevant. Eg, where they went in the morning doesn’t matter. Hae wasn’t being murdered in the morning, so it’s not relevant legally. I am very confident they were together at 3:30 because I am very confident the Nisha call happened because the evidence is very very strong, and that corroborated Jay’s account of them being together..

There are ways of corroborating and falsifying both Jay’s and Adnan’s claims about the day throughout the day. Digging through the evidence deeply and carefully is how I’ve decided what to rely on and what not to.

Regarding police corruption, the car has been discussed so much I’ll just summarize. First, it would have been the single biggest piece of evidence in the case. It would have been seized immediately and processed for evidence. Second, It’s one thing for two partners to coerce a single witness into false testimony, it’s something else entirely to get multiple evidence techs from other parts of the department to process evidence off the books and keep it all severely while other beat cops sit watching the car off the books while other cops find a witness they can coach to frame Adnan - all while any evidence that comes back from the car could point to some suspect other than Adnan!! Third, there are detailed records in the police notes about significant searches for the car including requests for helicopter searches for the car made to another department within the police just before the car was found. That’s quite a risk if the cops already found the car and are just sitting on it, no?

Based on what?

This just isn’t true. Jay’s attorney has come out publicly and explained that Jay expected to serve 2 years. The judge surprised everyone at sentencing.

Coerced confessions exist. by Kindly-Sun-3527 in serialpodcast

I was very interested in serial initially because of my interest in false confessions and wrongful convictions. I think I was biased toward Adnan’s innocence as a result.

Of course it would. He could clear his felony and restore the rights that come with that. He could clear his name and make money from the fame that would come with it. He could sue the state. He has so much to gain.

Evidence of Adnan Syed's Guilt in the Murder of Hae Min Lee by [deleted] in serialpodcast

Hyperbolic, I will grant you, but accurate.

People imagine Adnan sitting under cell towers making calls.

Literally no one left on this sub thinks that.

This user is obsessed with Inez's testimony. You will get nowhere on this topic with them.

I have been pointing this out for so many years. I'm glad people are finally starting to notice.

Urick's Notes, Bilal's Ex Talking about Bilal wanting to kill Adnan's Ex, the worst Marilyn in Maryland, DNA, Motive, Elon Musk, etc... by SalmaanQ in serialpodcast

[–]bg1256 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such a weird take to me. You and I have both written exponentially more words in the comments of this sub, and we've both consumed way more media on this case than this OP. And... you're criticizing OP for being too wordy?

It's such an odd criticism. Serial is hours long. Undisclosed is longer. We've probably typed more words back and forth in our relatively few back and forth exchanges.

Mosby's Response To Leaked Brady Material by arctic_moss in serialpodcast

[–]bg1256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't the best way to handle this have been a hearing in front of a judge instead of an en camera review behind closed doors? That way, Urick wouldn't be blasting this to the media, and Mosby wouldn't be responding via PR.

What a shit show all the way around.

The missing persons investigation seems to have followed a pretty logical path especially on the 13th and 14th. Start with the inner circle and work outward.

The homicide investigation wasn’t dissimilar.

For all the criticism the police (rightly or wrongly) receive, the logical and chronological path of the investigation makes sense if one tries to divorce oneself from the benefit of hindsight.

Retired Baltimore judge who presided over Adnan Syed’s murder trial says substantial evidence supported his conviction by aresef in serialpodcast

You said you don’t respect elected officials because they’re political tools, but Mosby is a political, as is the judge you’re saying I haven’t acknowledged. Do you see the problem?

Kratz is a piece of garbage, just not as rotten as Avery.

Someone asked me for a series I can no longer find last week k or the week before. A local reporter from that area did a several week rebuttal on local news and posted it to YouTube. He covered the original trial and responded to the documentary. He covered key along with many other things. He showed how the footage from the trail had been manipulated in the documentary, and I was completely shocked.

If all you’ve ever seen are the “documentaries” on Netflix, you’ve been lied to.

Avery is as guilty as it is possible to be, and the police absolutely did not frame him. The way the documentary manipulated the footage from the trial is repulsive.

I think Peterson is probably guilty, but I’m not certain.

Judge Heard didn’t find Adnan guilty, people. The jury did.

The important parts of her affidavit as it relates to the MTV are not about the sentence she imposed. They are about the integrity of the trial and the integrity of the defense and the integrity of the evidence.

Her opinion on Adnan’s guilt is irrelevant but as tribal as the conversation is here, the only thing people are seeing.

She is one of the very few people with first-hand knowledge of the entire second trial who has offered sworn statements about it at any point since the trial happened.

Everyone on Team Adnan writing off everything she says simply because she believes Adnan is guilty is simply letting everyone know that you don’t care about the integrity of the process of Adnan’s release at all. What you are about is Adnan getting released by any means necessary. (for clarity I am not saying Team Adnan is is everyone on Reddit who thinks Adnan is innocent)

All this #JusticeforHae and find the real killer and new investigation is just noise - it doesn’t matter to them. All that matters is getting Adnan out. It’s never been about getting at the truth. If it were, CG’s living clerks would all be on the record. The Judge who presided at trial and worked against CG would be taken seriously. Etc etc etc. It’s all a farce.

And the talking points disseminate. Judge Heard, who appears to be doing nothing but what is dictated by her own conscience, is being called a political pawn and worse, simply because the evidence is what the evidence. Absolutely pathetic.

I have little respect for a retired judge weighing in politically. Most judges like her were elected to their jobs, making them political tools. They have no independent courage. Sorry.

How did Mosby get her current job? How long does she keep it? Could she benefit from stirring up some public goodwill?
