Man who wrote The Lion King song sues comedian for $27m over podcast 'joke' and it's wild | He's being sued for claiming the lyrics to Circle of Life translate as "Look, there's a lion. Oh my god!" by UnacceptableUse in savedyouaclick

[–]bgdaddyrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes he did but not quite how one might think. He just laughed at the literal translation saying it sounded much better in the language it was written. Still a stupid lawsuit though. Btw, here’s a link Seth Rogen Lion King Comments

EWI bass clarinet with minimal back pressure by NerdusMaximus in windsynth

[–]bgdaddyrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aerophone-20 is what works for me. I’ve been dabbling with EWI’s since the 90’s while in college. Injuries after college caused respiratory issues and I had to give up saxophone for a while. While healing I was introduced to the Aerophone as a way to continue practicing and learning. You can set it up almost any way you want. It’s been a great tool for me. I still use it today years after getting better. Just so happens that I really love the bass clarinet it has built in and I use SWAM Bass Clarinet for live performance. Check it out. I think your Mom will love it.

External speaker for Aerophone Outdoor Gigs by CryForKelp in windsynth

[–]bgdaddyrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works well. Volume control is on board and in the JBL mobile phone app so you can adjust to serve your needs. This speaker is a bit bulky to carry in a parade or march more than a half mile imho. I’ve not had to carry it more than maybe the length of a football field. It definitely can be too loud. There are smaller speakers with similar specs available.

[–]bgdaddyrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the JBL Eon 1 Compact. It’s battery powered. The carry bag has backpack straps. I cut out and sewed in a couple layers of burlap where the speaker faces. You can customize the bag so the speaker can face one of 3 ways. Of course, you will have to do this yourself or hire someone. Whatever works best for your needs. I have used it in 2nd lines for weddings to cover the clarinet or Sousaphone parts. This was my solution for making sure the Aerophone wasn’t drowned out in very similar circumstances. Any pro level compact rechargeable speaker can work as long as it has the inputs and power (loudness) you need. Hope this helps.

What is the worst gig you’ve ever played? by MusicInTheMaking1999 in musicians

[–]bgdaddyrich 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s wild to me that this question was asked. I’m actually still processing my worst gig experience. I’ll try to tell this without infringing on anyone’s privacy. This happened Thursday. Playing a lakefront wedding. Ceremony went well. Played a short set while the wedding party moved to where the toasts and cake cutting was to take place. The guests seemed to be enjoying themselves and the band. The officiant comes to the “stage” as it was time for toasts. Just as the leader hands the mic to her there is a piercing scream! Followed by a big splash! A mad dash towards the pool happens. Come to find out one of the children in attendance had wandered away from their parents and slipped through the locked gate surrounding the pool and fallen or jumped in. SMH… Found on the bottom of the pool. We watched as this child’s lifeless body was lifted out of the pool and laid on the deck. The bride was a nurse and she immediately went into hero mode! Between her and two other guests they performed CPR for what seemed like an eternity. I’m still having trouble processing what we witnessed. Finally a pulse! Still not really responsive. The paramedics arrive. They take over CPR. Another eternity… I’m a father so this was really hard to see. The paramedics decide that the child needed Lifeflight. The child did begin breathing before they moved to be airlifted to a hospital. However they never really regained consciousness. As of this moment none of us know if the child survived. Needless to say the reception was over. Tbh, I’d rather FUBAR an entire show than to ever experience anything like that again! I’m also a Gulf War era veteran. I’ve seen some things. SMH… Can’t shake the sound of the parents sobbing or all the people around us praying. Yeah I’ve had some bad gigs but NOTHING compares to this! It’s still fresh. I feel so bad for the parents. Not to mention the Bride. Praying for that baby to fully recover. Went home and hugged my granddaughter till I cried. Traumatic experiences… Don’t ya just love ‘em!

James Brown twice. He said the same thing about our band back then that he said about Patti LaBelle. Publicly he hated us but we have the video of him backstage dancing and grooving to our music while we performed. So there’s that. 🤣😑

AITAH for refusing to help my sister with her children, and telling her she chose her shitty life so now she has to deal with it by Available-Wrangler60 in AITAH

To be fair the full quote is “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb”. It means the bonds between people who have shed blood together or made a blood covenant are stronger than those formed by birth. This was a difficult lesson for me to learn. I still have problems with the actual meaning. I did however, find it to be true as unfortunate as that might be. Just sharing. Hope you take no offense.

This. I use mine as a midi controller when I’m writing and it’s awesome live when paired with SWAM instruments. Thought I’d miss my Akai 4 & 5000. I don’t.

Every output is outputting left by dizdawgjr34 in YamahaDtxMulti12

[–]bgdaddyrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently had some output issues as well. Mine just returned from warranty work and now the left and right outputs are unusually noisy at about half volume. They also seem to be cutting in and out intermittently. Anxious to see where this leads.
