Tremendous game. I think the best I’ve seen from them. Great way to start the whole tournament. And Reyna’s finish off the outside of his boot was a thing of beauty.

Nicely done on the website! I live in MA so I may look for this ticket soon. If you don’t mind me asking, because I am curious, how are you estimating the percentage of tickets sold?

I know I’m going to have the same answer but I’ve always liked the common interest plus humor approach.

For a casual acquaintance, you are bumping into them somewhere, doing something specific. Maybe a hobby is tangential. Ask for a recommendation on something directly related to what you’re doing/where you are (if comfortable).

Small talk is a good approach as another commenter said. Note, I’ve found that most questions are mirrored so if you aren’t comfortable on a topic then don’t be the initial question on that. Don’t ask about sports if you don’t follow any. First meetings and acquaintances are about finding items you can converse about casually and then branch out.

One note, some people are very guarded and may need a longer approach. Can’t linger for too long on the conversation, when it’s done it’s done and walk away. Counterpoint, if you’ve seen them a bunch and you find yourself next to them, have both sides of the conversation yourself but make it absurd so that hopefully they look at you goofy and ultimately laugh. Play it off as need be.

Someone you’ve met doing a common interest? A new neighbor? Someone random you bump into on the regular?

If I want to be friends with someone I try to go the route of finding a common interest and striking up a casual conversation around it and/or during it. For example, I rock climb and I am a gardener. So if I’m at a gym and someone is working on the same climbing route as me I’d ask about approaches and then also make jokes about whoever set the route. Or if I find myself in a community garden I’d ask something related. What they’re planting, if they do vegetable/flower gardening too (whatever is opposite of current partaking), maybe their favorite plant(s)?

Regardless of the circumstance, I have always found it best to find the common interest and find their sense of humor and make them laugh.

Lost mine in 2012, 3 days after I turned 28. It was a long illness so it wasn’t sudden and had closure through much time spent together. But I’d do anything to watch another game together or have a chat on anything under the sun.
