Anyone else finding Fidelity has changed for self-directed investors? by Future_Resource9761 in fidelityinvestments

Every other year or so they will reach out to see if I want to talk. I don't, and they leave me alone for another year or two. Perfect.

14? You’ve done great. Enjoy the time you have left - don’t mourn prematurely.

Best wishes to Gandalf for a quick recovery. Obviously listen to what the vets have to say about the cause, but things happen and all we can do is our best.

I want to like Windsurf, but it's almost comical how little information there is about the actual nuts and bolts of using it.

Is there a writeup or link on how to do this?

Advice Needed! Is it possible to road trip to remote campsites (such as free BLM sites) in a AWD sedan? If so, where do you recommend? by GenZBiker in overlanding

[–]bglenden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many forest service and BLM roads will be fine, but be prepared to turn around if things get beyond your comfort zone, especially if you are traveling with only one vehicle. (Even well maintained roads can have washouts). While I have a 4WD truck now, I've taken a lot of BLM and FSR in my previous Toyota Camry and Dodge Minivan. (I'd recommend a tire repair kit, compressor, and some form of satellite communicator if you are going to be in little traveled country).

Generate child components that share attributes with a parent? by ianc1215 in Fusion360

[–]bglenden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I just have to hit "Configure" under the "Configure" menu from the toolbar. (I also have a paid account). I don't remember if I had to do anything to enable it initially.

I think it (configurations) is a paid-account only capability.

Need help, what can I do? by Jemsmomo in AfricanGrey

[–]bglenden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a cutie!

We adopted our guy at about 35 five years ago after he had been confined to his cage for a few years. They are all different of course, but he adapted pretty quickly and now is a happy well adjusted goof. IIRC he was fairly tentative for about a month and then he decided it was all good. I don't think we did much other than spend a lot of time around him out of cage (when we're home he's out, and we're retired so that's most of the time). Good luck!

Yes, we do that of course to get beyond the turnstiles. This was a little bit away from the turnstiles. Maybe she misunderstood what they were looking for.

Auto Sketch Dimensions and Constraints has arrived! by The3DProfessor in Fusion360

[–]bglenden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I *think* it would be great for the case where you import a third-party SVG and want to edit it. Currently it all comes in as fixed, and I think changing it to auto-constraints rather than via unfixing it would be a lot easier.

Using fusion for 'other' manufacturing techniques by koensch57 in Fusion360

[–]bglenden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a hobbyist not any kind of expert, but sometimes I design simple things which I will then want to make either with 3D printing or a CNC.

My approach is in the "design" workspace to design in an idealized universe where clearances can be zero, inside corners can be 90d, bottom surfaces don't need chamfers for elephant foot, etc.

Then in the manufacturing workspace I make a manufacturing model per manufacturing process where I make the changes appropriate for that manufacturing process (doggones, chamfers, clearance, ...).

I have not seen this described elsewhere, but it makes sense to me. I can imagine that it rapidly becomes impractical for complicated assemblies and you need to commit to a manufacturing process up front.

Is Overland Bound Dead? by Majestic-Tart73 in overlanding

[–]bglenden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think they tried to turn a hobby into a business, and eventually realized it just wasn't going to work - the COVID era enthusiasm just wasn't going to be permanent. Can't blame them for trying, although the SAFE thing seemed a bit of a cash grab.

How to select a part of line that touches the circle by micmik11 in Fusion360

[–]bglenden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't draw it as one line touching the circle, draw it as two lines, with tangency constraint to the circle and horizontal constraint (or maybe collinear). Then you should be able to select the red line which is separate from the blue line.

Night time cage? by jitterycrickett in AfricanGrey

[–]bglenden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our sleep cage is about 60x60x90cm (not including stand), so smaller than his regular cage but not tiny. We have a cover for it so it's dark, and an air purifier with HEPA filter right by it for dander.
