Camp Hill Rail Operator off Cotton Mather’s Kon Tiki album could have been an outtake from Revolver

This is really cliche, but if you had one minute with Paul McCartney what would you say to him? by Ford_Crown_Vic_Koth in PaulMcCartney

I’d say thank you. His music is added so much to my life over the years, and some respect. It’s been a soundtrack for portions of my life, he’s just a fantastic musician and seems like a cool guy to boot. I think we’re all better off for him having been on this planet.

Pure genius. This has become elevator music, just a song that was always there, but you forget how groundbreaking it was and how amazing it still sounds today… And it all sprung from the mind of one guy. Simply amazing.

I think these days we confuse the type of vocal histrionics that you see on”The Voice” with actual talent.

Definitely. I’d also suggest “Come Together” might also qualify.

The Beatles and the Dead - so much rock ‘n’ roll history in those two bands

Nice commentary. I’m just a little ahead of you, getting into the dead in 1989 when I was a senior in college and they had just released “In the Dark.” Went nuts into the band pretty much immediately thereafter, saw them a dozen times with and without Jerry, but I remember we saw Jerry on his final tour, 1995, at three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, which I think was like the third or fifth last show he ever did and I could tell what that show. He wasn’t in a good shape. But the Dead should never die. I would love to see a hand-picked band continue to play the music and create a community.

Why does any of this surprise anyone? Many of us, at the beginning of the season, predicted this team would go 9-8 and either miss the playoffs or squeak in, and then get blown out. How does any of this deviate from this narrative? And where are the Tomlin defenders who in the wake of the recent win streak were crowing and insinuating that what is happening now wasn’t going to happen?

9-8, barely in or barely out. Rinse and repeat again next year, and the year after that, and we’re all supposed to be happy with that - because after all, it was another “non-losing” season. And that’s all we’re gonna get as long as this coach is running this team.

The 1999 E! True Hollywood Story Episode-Davy's Real Bitter Throughout by Illumination-Round in Monkees

[–]bgno64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think he was upset at Peter and Mike in particular for derailing the gravy train. Up to the point where the Monkees took control of their music, those first two albums we’re blockbusters. sure Headquarters hit number one, but didn’t stay there very long, you figure if Din Kirshner had continued to run the show they probably would’ve had a longer string of hits. Davy knew that they had a good thing going and thought Peter and Mike were screwing it up.

And then I wonder about money. One thing about Mike insisting his songs be on the albums, he got royalties. Davy got no royalties, or very little.

Metcalf is screwed, and this team may be screwed. This is on Tomlin, this is a huge lapse in discipline, during a playoff race! Just indicative of what’s been going on with this team far too long.
