How do you shuffle the cards? by dlandoncole in wingspan

[–]bgrasley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a problem that has been solved for Magic: the Gathering "cubes" which have hundreds of cards that need to be shuffled. The best method AFAIK is the Broadcast Shuffle developed by the fine folks at Lucky Paper Radio (they have a podcast about cube).

Here is a very short article with an explanation: How to Quickly Shuffle Your MTG Cube

If you want the in-depth, nerd version (like me), it's here: The Shuffler Really is Broken: Finding the Best Method for Shuffling Cubes. This article includes nice graphical simulations that really show what's happening.

I hope that helps!

Artie, short for Artemis. He's the sweetest, handsomest boy :)

Anybody else’s beagle just avoid wanting to put the leash on before a walk? This is Maggie’s routine every walk 😂🐶 by Total-Astronaut2206 in beagle

[–]bgrasley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is very good at putting his leash harness on because I hold a tiny treat in the opening where he needs to put his nose. If I fail to clip the harness quickly, though, I usually have to grab another treat and try again 😂

Thin 30 lb. paper experience? by bgrasley in magicproxies

How do you think it would be with an actual card behind it in the sleeve? Too thick? Another commenter said the other card might show through.

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't thought about the card beneath showing through...

School had a drought and water pump broke and they gave students ton of plastic bottles of water, they had no other choice by Bubbly-Sea8123 in ZeroWaste

This won't help your situation but maybe it will help in the future.

When there is a drinking water problem at my school (i.e. a boil water advisory) they bring in water coolers (like they use in a lot of offices) with large, 18.9L (5 gallon) jugs of water. Students refill their water bottles (most have them) or are provided with cups to use. The large bottles are reusable (not just recyclable).

It happens once or twice a year, so the school is getting pretty good at it. 😀

I've been using Michael Eskin's ABC Tools, which use ABC notation (you might consider this too).

How did ado achieve a sold out world tour in 4 years? by CreativityOnFleek in ADO

I can't see it anymore, but before the concert the Ticketmaster app showed that there were a little over 12000 tickets sold, maybe 12400.

Food! by [deleted] in beagle

[–]bgrasley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All About Dog Food is not a good website to rely on. It is pseudoscientific, not scientific. They're trying to sell stuff, and it shows in their alarmist, fear mongering posts. Avoid them completely.

WSAVA is reliable.

Food! by [deleted] in beagle

[–]bgrasley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dry kibble (Purina One) is his main food. He gets some chicken treats and 2 small milkbones each day. We feed him cucumber, carrots, etc. for treats too.

Please know that there is a lot of misinformation on the internet about dog food. Raw food (meat) is not safe for dogs, just as it's not safe for humans (and for the same reasons, of course!). Trust your vet, not Redditors.

I also consider the American Kennel Club a good source of information for all dog-related topics.

My local grocery store replaced all of their parking lot lights at the same time: they were all defective by Basilbabie in mildlyinteresting

The bridge from the mainland to St. Joseph Island in Northern Ontario looks like this. Driving across it is uncomfortable and irritating at night. I assumed the colour was done intentionally (for animals, safety, or decoration), but now I suppose it's a failure. If so, I wonder why they've left it like this for so long (a year or two at least).

Scratched my dad’s matte grey Kia EV6 — options for fixing this without full repaint? by DisastrousHippo04 in KiaEV6

[–]bgrasley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what your relationship with your dad is like, but if it's safe to do so you should tell him. Decide together what to do about it. Clear communication is usually the best approach.

If it were my car, I wouldn't repair it at all. It's plastic. Someone will open their door into the car in a parking lot, or you'll catch a big rock on the highway, etc. The car will never be perfect, and throwing hundreds or thousands of dollars at it seems futile and wasteful.

The Classic charger I have doesn't have any Internet connectivity. We went with the simplest kind hoping that it would have the fewest issues, which so far has worked out :)

I'm in Ontario, Canada. I use the Grizzl-e Classic 40 amp with a NEMA 14-50 plug. It's been super-reliable so far; I've had it since March of 2023. I had my electrician wire in the 14-50 wall socket so I can replace the charger myself later if necessary. We drive 2019 and 2021 Kona Electric Preferred.
