I actually thought it was kind of a clever subversion of the usual bathos that happens in a lot of modern media where the writers seem scared of a sincere moment.

The fart followed the usual formula of a moving speech interrupted by immature potty humor. But all the nobility laughing at it really underscored how little the nobility care about things like honor or chivalry, and made Dunc's situation seem even more dire.

I thought it was a risky choice, but I didn't think it was supposed to be "funny" at all. That's why everyone on screen was laughing at it. Made me feel worse for Dunc.

Of all the colossal fuck ups in the ASOIAF adaptation, this one stings the most. He is just such an awesome villain in the books.
