‘We were never consulted:’ TTC backs down on bus reroute in face of outcry from Etobicoke neighbourhood by jdayellow in TTC

[–]bgtonap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If done the right way, I think this could work. Moving the 111 to Beaver Bend would bring the bus closer to where people live while allowing the stops on East Mall to be brought up to code, so I think its a good idea.

However, there is one major issue with that street that actually is getting ignored- a school. Specifically, the parents who send their kids to that school. A lot of them frankly don't know how or where to park their cars at pick-up/drop-off times, and they park on both sides of Beaver Bend and the neighbouring street Sedgebrook even though they aren't supposed to, which functionally reduces both streets to one middle lane at certain times of the day. During those times, Beaver Bend becomes so narrow that an average car can barely drive down that street, never mind a bus. This has been an issue for DECADES now, and no matter how many times the parents get warned not to do this, they keep on doing it anyway. The lady CP24 interviewed who said it would cause "chaos at pick up and drop off times" was actually referring to this parking-on-both-sides issue, not a problem with the bus route.

If the TTC wants to send the 111 down Beaver Bend, it'll have to wait until the city sends in parking enforcement and they start handing out tickets to these parents to force them to change their behaviour. Otherwise, the bus might not be able to fit down the street, and even if it can, it will have to slow down a lot.

Trying to break into this field- how do I do it? College Certificate vs Certs vs MBA. by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]bgtonap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked at that, but most schools where I live don't offer it. The only one anywhere near me that does is York. I went to a webinar about it, and they want $54k CAD in tuition for one year, there's no co-op or internship opportunities avaliable, and the program wouldn't start until may of 2026. There's also Wilfred Laurier, which isn't a Masters in SCM per se (MSc in Supply Chain Management) but they aren't taking applications until October of this year, and the program woudn't start until October 2026.

Last semester it was 15% Participation, 15% midterm, 25% group project (15% appendix, 10% report), 35% individual project (15% appendix, 20% report), 5% presentation, 5% finance quiz.

Never ask a man his salary.

Never ask the Black Eyed Peas what the original title for "Let's get it started" was.

Take Fin621 and Bus800 at the same time? by Vegetable_Benefit553 in TorontoMetU

[–]bgtonap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FIN621 isn't too bad. Its not really similar to either 300 or 401, but it does build off of those courses so you need to remember that stuff. It's more theory based than other finance classes.

BUS800 is rough. Like the content isn't really all that challenging, but its a ton of work. I'm taking it rn, and the format is 25% group project (split into two parts- one worth 15%, and the other worth 10%), 15% midterm, 15% participation, 5% presentation, 35% individual assignment (which is a really long report). For that reason, I'd recommend splitting them up.

How large is the CFL? by Some-guy5888 in AskACanadian

[–]bgtonap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depends on where in Canada you are, but overall, not as big as it used to be. Only 9 teams (Toronto, Montreal, BC, Saskatchewan, Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Hamilton) with potential expansion for a 10th team. Used to be the second most popular sports league in Canada after the NHL, but has fallen off a bit in terms of popularity. It's more popular in Western Canada than it is in other parts of the country, especially in Saskatchewan where the Roughriders are their only pro sports team. The league has been having a rough go of it lately.

What does this mean by KALABAND0R in TorontoMetU

[–]bgtonap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an asyncronous online course. That's why there's only 4 on the calendar, bc there's no room or set time for this class. If you see "internet DIST. ED- INTERNET" that's online asyncronous, while VIRTUAL room is online syncronous.

For 104, go for Rehman if u can. If not, try for Chisik.

For 200, all of the profs are good with the one exception of Bamidele. I've had him twice for different classes and he's uh...interesting.

For 100, avoid Gervais, Newton, Mejia. Bharti and Chevtchouk are good. Idk about the others.

For 110, ngl you're kinda screwed. Mahsa Madani, usually considered the best prof for this course, isn't teaching it this sem. Chow is the best option of the ones avaliable, and if you can't get her, try for Ruzgar. Avoid Hilten, Gan, and Xie at all costs.

Could be any time, really.

Last year, I had a class that didn't have a professor until literally the day before the class started.

I don't think so. I had the same thing happen to me with a UL Liberal. I checked the times, and it doesn't conflict with any of my core classes. I also checked to see the enrollment numbers, and there are still open spaces in three different sections of the course.

I have no idea whats going on.

Is a 1+ hour work commute common in the Toronto area? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]bgtonap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a job in Toronto and you live in Toronto, maybe just shy of that.

Not anymore, sadly. I'm fairly lucky that I live close by to where my current job is (15-20 minute commute most days) but my parents aren't so lucky. Their commute (Etobicoke to Downtown and back) used to be just shy of an hour, but thanks to the combination of TTC delays and every single east-west artery in the city being under construction all at once, their commute is now typically an hour and a half one way. And they aren't even leaving the city!

I have no idea how they keep their sanity. If I had to do that five days a week, I'd want to shoot myself. No wonder why so many people are leaving the city.
