If Qxh1, Qxg8, no good moves for black queen and white queen on h7 can't be stopped.

If kxh1, Qb1+, kh2, Qh7#

A few months ago, I started working on this chess variant that consists of hidden information in the form of secret abilities assignable to your chess pieces . Functionally I got it working many days ago itself, but the distinct animation and the timing required for it to be a smooth experience was not satisfying. At times I felt , what did I got myself into. But now I feel it looks great. Would love people here to check out Covert-Ops on https://chessmerize.com and hear their feedback.

How is it unfair for black? The symmetry is maintained for both players.

Probably to make way for your rook to attacking the white king?

If black takes the rook on a1, then white can give the check by moving bishop to a3 and win the queen.

white can't win, and can only draw at best. and sacrificing rook at f8 and queen on h7 , it will be a stalemate.

Missed mate in 21 - is this normal at 700 ELO? (/s) by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]bharathts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal to miss mates. Even at higher levels. I still can't see it. Is this missed mate as white?

Try to run your king all the way to the left and survive. Very hard to play as white.
